Shack!

We will beat the Kangaroos just the same way we finished off Geelong with supposedly no forwards.

The Kangaroos will not have it all their own way this week, don't forget you will be missing Mick Martyn, David King, Anthony Stevens and rumour has it that maybe even Wayne Carey will be missing.

You will also be playing at Football Park as well so I wouldn't count your chickens just yet, I know Im expecting Port to win and advance straight into the Grand Final.

Port Adelaide Forever

Chad Cornes will have to step up. He's done pretty well in the AC so far, without kicking many goals though. Mark Harwood ditto. We'll need to rely on the medium to smaller blokes to get the goals. Stewie Dew can boot them from anywhere, Wanganeen is deadly around the goals, Peter Burgoyne kicked 4 against Geelong, Josh Carr, Cocky, Roger James, Nick Stevens, Jarrad Schofield, Fabian Francis, even big Matty Primus can all contribute - need I go on?

With the forwards you mention, if you are going to rely on them each week over a 22 round season then you blokes are in real trouble!!!!

Don't get me wrong I don't thnk they are bad players, but they're not reliable goalkickers.

Your midfield is good for quite a few goals, but I really think for Port to figure this year you need to unearth some key forwards.

I enjoy watching Port play, especially Fabian Francis I think he is a very underrated player!!!

Goodluck for the semi

Go ROOS!!!

Shack,

In one sense you are certainly right, Port do need a key position forward to constantly kick goals, Tredrea is our main target, so luckily his injury is not long term.
We will need other tall marking targets to also stand up, Lockwood, Cornes, Harwood, plus maybe one or two of Morgan, Thurstans, Ackland or Bassett can have a positive impact for us.
I believe Port is well served by the small to medium range player who can kick goals, so if we get a couple of tall targets as well, our forward line looks okay

Good post mate

If Port use their running players and get some running goals from between 45m and 55m out, then North could be in trouble. From what I've seen, Port have the type of midfield that can do that. Last season, we got overwhelmed whenever that situation happened....those sorts of attacks tend to pull the North defence out of shape. However, it may be harder to do that this year as our midfield does look faster than last season's model.

If the game was in Melbourne, I'd be pretty confident. But with King and Stevens out, suddenly our midfield looks a whole lot less experienced. Archer, Colbert, McCartney, Blakey and Pickett will do well in defence (as long as they don't have to deal with the long goals mentioned above), while good games from Carey and Rocca would see North win....but the midfield has to get the ball to them. The other factor is the Port crowd.....will a Williams 3/4 time plea followed by a roaring crowd be able to get Port to a win? After seeing many Port vs Adelaide games on TV, there's a damn good chance of it.

North by a goal.

Well done to Port Adelaide Power. Congratulations on your win....gotta admit, I've underestimated your team before the pre-season comp started, but you fully deserve to be in the Grand Final. Best of luck next week and I hope plenty of you can make the trip over.

Unless Brisbane beat the Hawks and we stay at Footy Park :P
