Port Adelaide 41 scoring shots......Essendon 17...Nothing more ...nothing less...Port Adelaide ,doing what Port does best...

It was only a play game for Port...it was only practice for them, they werent trying, they were just having kicks with their mates.

Essendon werent much chop, Port need some league football standard competition to see if they'll play up to the standard they have for 131 years

PA 1870,

I suppose you think the premiership's a cakewalk now, do you? Well, don't get carried away now. Wait until you meet a decent team. Then we'll see how much you've got to brag about. It's only an Ansett Cup game. And you only beat Essendon.

Alf,

No more confident than I have been since I first set eyes on Port... Long way between now and the start of the season...let alone Premierships...But you should know us Port fans...any length of time is a long time between Grand Finals..

Its been difficult since our last Grand Final and Premiership win since 1996.
only one finals appearance since then is just not Port....

Alf , I was referring to our last season in the SANFL prior to leaving and joining the AFL...up until that time we had only ever been out of the major round 12 times since 1877 , since joining the AFL that ratio has gone up to 16 times...

Its good to blow the cobwebs out in these trial games, great to see clubs like Essendon run their Juniors, must admit they were a credit to the Club tonite, especially Matthew LLoyd...what a champ.

I think for all those out there who are in two minds, Essendon will prove to be BIG improvers this season, what, with that wily old fox as a coach, they'll comeback...you'll see, gee it was only a practice game and they only had their reserves playing and they were late off the plane, and they had coke to drink instead of powerade and it was their first game and Sheeds told them not to try and they all took it as a joke and Port are gonna finish last anyway and Essendon won last years AFL premiership so they've got NOTHING to prove to their supporters and their bus broke down and they didnt have their proper shorts and their full contingent of supporters werent there...
Ah what the heck... Essendon were SHIT !!!!!

What a good game...it was good to see some footy agaiN!!!!!

Dunno what essendon were on but they didnt seem much chop tonight!!! Port had just as many first team players out as essendon did as well...no lade, lockwood, murray, burgoyne, nick stevens, kooley.
It was good to see Primus in the no. 1....wanganeen played well in the forward lines...Dew has thinned up a bit, and hasnt lost any power in his legs.

Its nice to know that Tredrea is wearing the same boots as the last three years, and obviously still puts them on the opposite feet as his kicking was pathetic again tonight. COckatoo played well as well. Kane Cornes...looks and plays like MIcheal Wilson, and should be a favourite for the rising star this year. Wakelin adds another level to our defence...French did well...Harwood did some good things...Chad Cornes was brilliant tonight, he chased, he smothered about 8 kicks, layed many tackles...his game has grown another level too.

Well it is just an ansett cup game, but it was a surprise that we won by THAT much to be honest. Essendon didnt even put up a fight!!

Really its a no win situation for us port fans...if we lost we would of been called useless, crap, not up to standard...and as we won, we get told "its only the ansett cup".

oh well...at least we won, unlike another adelaide team tonight

PA1870,

Essendon were shit last night. They reminded me of Port in 1997-98-99-2000, actually. We havn't had a loss like that for for 2 years actually.

Anyway, enjoy the unexpected win by your underachieving mob (who admittedly playd a great game) because it will be yet another season of finals-less football for Port Adelaide. Tuis is your 5th season and you havn't had a percentage of over 100 yet, and you havn't come close to winning a finals match.

We took you easy because you have no reputation (because you've been shit since you enetered the comp in 1997) and we payed the price. I mean, why would Essebdon get excited about a match agaisnt Port. Who cares about them - It's like playing Freo. Can't wait for Round 2 when we annihilaite your overrated arses in the real stuff. I love getting revenge. Essendon always get revenge. Always. Look at our history.

Oh Dan please
If it is so unimportant (the Ansett Cup) then why are you trying to defend the 'reasons' that Essendon lost?
Just let the Port fans enjoy the moment.... do you know how hard I would laugh if Port actually does beat Essendon when they play in the H&A series?!

Hey, I said you deserved to win. You played better, and really, you should have won by over 100 points such was your innacuracy. Credit where cridt is due.

I just like to knock that wanker PA1870 off his high horse. Doesn't he realise that your club has done "sweet f*ck all" in the big league since they joined in 1997.

Defend the indefencable....Di*khead.....41 scoring shots..Essendon have found it hard against Port both prior to us joining the AFL and since...We whipped a pathetic
attempt at manly football, Essendon were piss weak against the might of a traditional football club...NO-ONE gives a stuff about premierships Essendon won in a suburban football league the VFL.....The VFL holds so much in the AFL's eyes that they have renamed the local league the VFL which means...the VFL prior to the AFL was considered the same standard as the VFL now..

Piss off Dic*khead, your club showed its standard last night against what we considered an outing , a saturday night romp, a PRACTICE game...so much so we practiced 41 shots at goals against Poofters...HA HA HA HA HA

Lloyd the fly catcher...what a joke...Dim 24 my liddle boy you are a joke too.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

I suppose we're not traditonal. We've only been around since 1872 and won 16 premierships in the 104 year old VFL/AFL competiton that began in 1897.

Bring on Round 2 when the REAL stuff begins and we will whip your ass. I can't wait. I love it when a shitty team gets all over-confident. Just keep writing us off. Enjoy your moment in the sun, you deserved the win. But you won't make the finals. One of the reasons is because you have an unsuccessful culture since joining the AFL. All of a sudden you are a small fish in a big pond. Port have been intimidated since 1997, especially by the Kangaroos who you have never beaten. Until you rid yourselves of the inferiority complex that has dogged Port since 1997, you won't be successful.

Ha ha ha ha.

We have only played you since 1997. We might have "used" you in a practice match in your SANFL days, but that's just to give our boys a bit of a run-around. Practice matches don't count.

Our record against Port is 4-2. That includes 2 wins at Football Park, an easy win at the MCG and a 94 point annihilation at Colonial which ruined Ports 2000 season. We also easily beat you at FP in 2000, and kept Port to 7 goals in perfect conditions.

The only time you have beaten us was in 1999 at FP when half our side was missing, and in 1997 at the MCG whe we finished 14th and our season was ruined by injury.

Our record agaisnt Port is similar to our record against St.Kilda. i.e we have won 66% of our matches agaisnt those two clubs.

Dan......

I am interested to know if you are serious about your views on Port's achievements in the AFL.....or if you are just having another go at PA1870.

I think you are wrong.

Shocked by the Power...

Face it guys. Many tems fronted essendon last year expecting to lose. Judge even had west coast limiting the 'damage'

But the bombers , not used to losing, play like the proverbial rabbit caght in the headlights.

Every team will expect to beat you this year.
The 'psych' advantage is buried
