New port powder song - 2000 version

We've got the power to lose
power to booze
We've got port adelaide depression
We are the losers from port
It's more than a snort
It's true port adelaide depression
We're going down, down, down
To the ground, ground, ground
With every round in the season
port power to lose
We will give in
'Cause the spoon is ours for the taking

With our depression so strong
We will go wrong
We're the wharfie crowd
port adelaide fouled
And the losers are those
Who've earned the right
To wear the silver - teal
And black and white
And the wharfie supporters
Standing short
True believers
None at all

We've got the power to lose
power to booze
We've got port adelaide depression
We are the losers from port
It's more than a snort
It's true port adelaide depression
We're going down, down, down
To the ground, ground, ground
With every round in the season
port power to lose
We will give in
'Cause the spoon is ours for the taking
POWER FAILURE

Well, thank you for taking so much time and effort to make a fool of yourself. The only depressed people at Port will be the talented players who can't make it into the team.

I don't think you've ever declared your allegiance, but I'm assuming your either a Crows supporter, or if not, a South Australian who barracks for a loser SANFL club like Glenelg (and probably Richmond in the AFL). I say this because most people outside SA have respect and admiration for Port Adelaide, even if they find the fans arrogance annoying!

I could start an alternative Crows song with "We're the Rest of South Australia..." but I can't be bothered writing any more.

Yeah, those depressed people who can't make it into the port power team come from most of the 9 SANFL clubs because after all, they are just another COMPOSITE team like the CROWS. Your wondering who I support in the AFL - well, no names, but its a team from South Australia who won the PREMIERSHIP in 1997 AND 1998. Your also wondering who I support in the SANFL, well again, no names but, it's the team who killed those port adelaide magpies in the 1997 GF by a port adelaide magpies record losing margin for a GF of 73 points and killed those port adelaide magpies on ANZAC DAY in 1997 by a port adelaide magpies losing record margin for a minor round game of 122 points - lest we forget.

Damn that was a funnnnnnnnny song...
But the thing that gets me is that its just so true. How the person who wrote it knew, was just mind blowing!*L*

Simply put this way: Port Suck, The Crows kick ass over them and the the Mighty Roos kick over everyone!!!!

The Rest of South Australia's record is going to mirror Norwood's - most of their success in the early years, with increasingly rare wins over Port after that...

BTW - I haven't noticed any topics about The Rest of South Australia on Big Footy.com yet

You'll get to know a lot more about Port Adelaide in the coming years - like the long suffering supporters of the other SANFL clubs have.

PS - Sam Newman did that joke 3 years ago and it was pissweak then too.

I would like to propose that all Norwood supporters wear Crows beanies/ scarfs and wave Crows flags to all Norwood games this year as red and blue are two of the three Crows colours. I'm sorry, I must be dreaming, what I really meant was that all port adelaide magpies supporters to wear port adelaide power beanies/scarfs and wave port adelaide power flags to all port adelaide magpies games are they really are the same team aren't they??
Q) What do you call a port adelaide magpies supporter who can afford to go to the footy? A thief on day release.

The Rest of South Australia's worst nightmare would be if Norwood got an AFL licence, because Norwood's supporter base would be 100% from Cows supporters. That would leave Port Adelaide with most members, followed by TROSA, then Norwood.

Don't worry though, Norwood wasn't able to mount a viable case for the second licence, so the only way they'd ever get into the AFL would be as a re-badged Victorian team. So would you like to be the Norwood Saints or the Norwood Demons...?

Answer my bloody question!!
Anyway, what is a power?? there certainly isn't much of it here in Adelaide today. What a crappy mascot as well as a crappy name, thought you couldn't get any worse than a mobile phone running around like an idiot, geez and at one stage we were called yuppies.

Crows have about four times as many followers as Power does Power Mad. If Norwood got a team in the AFL and robbed all of Crows fans then that team would be the most popular SA based AFL team. If they didn't get that many and ended up with less support than Power then Crows would reamin the most popular AFL team in SA. There is no way you can have it that Port Power would end up the most popular team. It just doesn't add up that way.

**************NEWS FLASH****************
The SANFL has just announced that they are going to introduce individual seats at Footy Park in 2001. The colours of those seats will be announced shortly, but the hot tip is that they will be black, white, teal and the occasional silver seat. The reasoning behind this will be to make it look on tv that port powder actually attract people to games and not be a total embarrassment to South Australia's population who support a successful AFL team.

How many members have The Rest of South Australia got - about 42,000? and Port has about 38,000. Le's be generous and say a Norwood AFL side would take 20,000 off the Cows:

Port 38,000
Cows 22,000
Norwood 20,000

Sure, the Cows might pick up a few from their current waiting list, but a fair chunk of them would also go to Norwood.

Even if you're right about the four to one ratio of Cows to Port supporters (which will dwindle as the Cows fade into mediocrity again), Port draw their support from one ninth of the traditional South Australian footy clubs, so they are doing extremely well to have one fifth of the total support.

And JohnB you may as well shut up now. You're stupid posts are becoming more and more juvenile. Sorry if that's an insult to juveniles. All you're doing is showing the rest of Australia the sort of jealousy Port Adelaide attracts from supporters of the other SA clubs. You just love it that the Cows have two more premierships than Port at the moment because you've had to put up with the Port Magpies winning the SANFL premiership with monotonous regularity.

If you're honest with yourself, you'll admit to an uneasy forboding about Port Power becoming the dominant South Australian AFL team too.

Power Mad have you seen the stupid ads on TV where whats-his-face implores fans to become Power members? Have you wondered why there are no equivalent ads for Crows? Its because Crows memberships are sold out and have been for ten years. About 7000 people on the waiting list for Crows memberships. If you went to buy a membership and were told there was a 7000 waiting list and only a trickle were turned over any year and it might be twenty years before you could get a go, would you bother? Thats whats happened. If 20000 Norwod fans left the Crows memberships and 7000 came of the waiting list there would be at least another 14000 after that wanting to take up the slack. If Port have 38000 members and Crows are three times as popular thats over 100000 that would become Crows members if they could.

The Cows should have 8 times as many supporters as Port. That's the only way you'll get a team more popular than Port out of SA - the rest of the state added together!

Power Mad no matter what way you try to slice it the fact is that Crows following would have to be split evenly at least three ways probably four ways before Port could have any chance of becoming the most popular SA based AFL team. Face it that is just never going to happen. That must really stick in the gut of Power fans considering that Port were always the most popular SANFL team. So sad.

Only a team made up of the rest of SA has more supporters than Port. No other SANFL club would have been capable of putting together an AFL club and none of them would have anywhere near the following of Port. Even consortiums of 3 or 4 SANFL clubs couldn't do it.

Port has 38,000 member does it??? Hmmmm, where are those 38,000 when it comes to home matches?? Oh yeah, I forgot, port has pet membership too - I bet they add those dogs and cats into the membership numbers just to make the figure look good.

Port obviously has lots of interstate members, or people prepared to buy memberships even if they can't get to the games.

Don't flatter yourself, or your membership. A lot of crows supporters buy your stupid season tickets so they can get a seat at a game! I reckon about 5000 of your memebers. Maybe that is conservative? Furthermore a lot of your supporters are from TRofSA who also want to experience AFL footy, even if it is sub standard by Crows standars. I reckon only a third of your members are Port Diehards like yourself.

Completee bullsh1t. With a nickname like yours you have zero credibility commenting on anything about Port.

You probably arrive at these amazing conclusions because one or two of your scaly mates have bought Power memberships. Maybe even you have too! Well your money is welcome.

Re your "sub-standard" comment - who holds the Showdown trophy? And even with a big helping hand from the AFL with all 3 Ansett Cup games at home, the Cows still managed to let down the public of The Rest of South Australia. How long before Ayres needs around the clock security?

No credibility! Pfff! Thats hilarious coming from you 'Power Mad'!!! You are like a viral diease that infests this web board with your bluster, bravado and lack of factual backup for your claims. You can say what you like about my comments, but the fact is: you can't prove me wrong on any counts.
