After a shocking couple of games where he was blatantly chucking, Melo has been used much better in his bench role. He should either be taking catch and shoot 3s or in the post on mismatches, no long contested 2s pls.

CJ been on fire to start the season, Nurk been poor, Dame solid, love RoCo and DJJ defensive intensity. Big question is do we want to see a Harden trade to the blazers?
It's a chance to pair two top 15 guys together so I'd have to say yes.

CJ is scoring 28 a game as a second option with 3 FTA a game.

Harden is scoring 37 a game as Mr Iso with 12 FTA a game.

Dame and CJ are averaging about 9-10 FTA per game between them. Harden would just end up taking the ball out of Dame's hands.

Those types of players aren't exactly easy to come by
Harden isn't easy to come by.

Blazers plus Harden minus McCollum and whatever other pieces it took to get a trade done wouldn't win a title.

Either the pieces that are there need to learn how to defend, or they need new pieces that can defend. DJ Jr and Covington are good defenders and the team still leaks 120+ on a regular basis. When you have two small guards who aren't great defenders, you can't afford to let teams score easy points inside which the Blazers do. So frustrating to watch. Outscored 3 quarters in a row today by Chicago.

Or it it maybe getting to the point we need a coach with better defensive schemes ?

I watched it while working today. We got out of jail but our ball movement was a lot better. Nurkic came up huge in the last qtr.

Helps when you hit the 3 at a great clip.

Defence is a big worry though

Currently 25th or so in defence efficiency, unless that gets substantially better then 1st rd of playoffs is our ceiling.

What a bizarre 30 point game from Dame vs the 6ers. 14-10 is a great result given who has been out and it hasn't been Dame hero ball every single game. The lead in games to the playoffs last year were absurd. Can't rely on your best player scoring 51, 61, 42 just to get single play wins to end up 8th.

Wild game vs OKC today, up 22 then they go one a 42-15 run to lead by 5, then we finish on an 18-2 run to win by 11.
Solid win in the end. Won 7/8 with the only loss away to the Knicks.

Tough next 8 with Pels, Suns, Nuggets and Lakers (minus Davis?) all away. Warriors at home.

Should beat the Wiz, Hornets and Kings all at home.

Hopefully we go 5-3 over this stretch which would take us to 22-13

Hopefully after this stretch we have CJ back and Nurk not far off.

18-2 run vs OKC, all 18 points scored or assisted by Dame. Last 15 points vs Pelicans scored or assisted by Dame. Unreal. 18-10 and 4th in the West with CJ and Nurkic out is massive. Much better than last year when it was an uphill battle to chase .500.

Did feel a bit for Luka after the Mavs game. 44 points and 9 assists shooting 70-63-92 and Dame still got the plaudits for hitting the go ahead 3.

Would be tough picking the All NBA teams right now. They still do two forwards, two guards and a centre so one of Jokic/Embiid and one of Lillard/Curry/Luka would end up on the second team. I would expect to see LeBron and KD first team forwards, Giannis and Kawhi second team if it was picked tomorrow.
