de Boer, Suban, and Clarke were all fighting for their spots and I think all 3 of them played well today. I think they've done enough to keep their spots.

Neale winning the Roscoe was great. Well deserved.

Sandi must be ecstatic after that win for his 200th. Played great himself as usual. Still the best ruckman in the league.

Positives
Zac Clarke - Great effort, couple good marks and 3 goals.
L Neale - S Mitchell like effort, lets hope he can keep it up. Very classy, considered his options each time.
Sandilands - Clunked several marks.
D Pearce - Great effort
Ballas - great to have him back, he is worth 2 goals.
Sutcliffe - Great effort, cemented his spot
D Pearce - Another great effort
Mundy - Absolute Class, what a difference he makes to the side.

Negatives
Injuries to Dawson and McPharlin

Some great positives.

DeBoer got a good wake up call and did well. I think Barlow didn't look match fit but will be better for the run.

Sandi destroyed the ruck.

POSITIVES
  • Clarke kicking 3 goals. We need him confident and doing that up forward.
  • Lachie Neale building into form - hopefully he will continue to do so and make the pain of losing Sonson less. (Not like for like I know.)
  • Mayne getting a goal at last this season. Good cover on Darling. Needs to build confidence again and we need him to stay in the team, so glad we are backing him in
  • Sandi plucking mark after mark in the defensive square

NEGATIVES
  • Very hard fought contest - traveling to Adelaide then meeting Port Adelaide. It will not be good. I am very worried about next week.
  • We still need to fix our forward lone. Sumich needs to earn his keep.
  • Dawson going down. Macca at least played it out.

Mayne's form is also a bit of a negative. Did very little up forward again.

Crozier also doesn't seem to be coming on much. Another 13-14 disposal game with no scoreboard impact.

Any injury to McPharlin is a worry at this stage of his career.

Calf to Macca is very concerning. He would have had a shot and won't feel the injury until tomorrow. Massive blow if him and Dawson both miss port and Geelong.

Positives -

I thought the clunking marks to Sandi and Clarke were awesome !! Will give them much more confidence. Especially if Sandi goes to the goal square.
Clarke was not just standing in the goal line. He was leading which I though was a big positive

Pos: Winning without Pav kicking any. And Mighty Mick Barlow underdone, we have room to get better.
Sandi outplaying Cox and Natawhoey. In the ruck and around the ground.
Neale winning the medal (Lyon doesn't play the kids).
It was the Wet Toast home game. I hope their crowd enjoyed it.

Neg: Zac hurt, we need him against Port.
18-21 behind in the head to head. But closing!

I thought Mayne improved a lot this week. He looked a lot more comfortable in the forward line and contributed even though he only kicked 1 goal. Also I thought he did a good job covering for Dawson after half time.

Crozier did some nice things. Wasn't fantastic but did enough not to be called a negative I would of thought.

Massive negative - Dawson injury sounds significant according to Ross. We just can't catch a ******* break.
That does suck but TBH Silvagni deserves a chance, different kind of player but at least lets see how he goes for a couple of weeks before we despair too much.

My big positive was Micky Barlow back. Only got 21 touches but the midfield is just that much better with him out there.

Barlow played forward for a fair bit of time today. Seemed to work ok but he doesn't have the leg to kick them from 50. If he could kick like Pav he could have had 3-4 goals.

I would never question Silvagni's effort and application, and he is cracking at the WAFL level. But Dawson is a general in defence, and as such is a massive loss in the back.

And, no, Basil, North didn't comprehensively beat Fremantle last week, we lost the game by 14 points.

Another 6 day break and travel, **** me!

Thought that was De Boer's best match of the season. It was the type of high pressure and physical game he thrives in.

Not sure how I feel about Crozier's game. Did some nice things but his lack of physicality let him down at times. He will be a class player in a couple of seasons.

Well at least we've been at home 2 weeks in a row - that's got to count for something on the recovery front.

I kinda agree with you on Silvagni but I dunno, feel like he needs a shot. Last year yeah he struggled but he seems to be playing good footy in the WAFL. And what other option do we have down back?

Nothing. Tanner Smith is nowhere near recovered, he's our only KPP that would be relatively ready.
