Very common event that happens too often.
Brain fade giving away a really dumb free kick often resulting in opposition goal.
Having said this though I have somewhat warmed to him and am happy to give him the praise in many cases when he does nullify some of the larger opposition forwards.
Cut out the brain fades and his value would be increased massively.
Brain fade? You realise when he gave the free away it was because he'd twisted his ankle, right? Try watching the replay again.

Positives:The start of a new working week is just so much easier when we return back to the winners circle.

Can't praise Neale enough, he just makes our midfield division just so much stronger and classier.

Fyfe, mundy,Barlow,Neale and Hilly what a list of mids.

Ballas may finally have realised that the unsavoury stuff is not needed.

Clarke continuing to develop as a young ruck.He certainly turned the tables on Glassy.

We'll strangle port too!

Negative:
- Dawson in pain. It hurrrrtsssssss.

I hope the injury isn't severe. I like Silvagni but he is no general like the teachers pet!

We NEED Dawson to be a finals contender. Get fit and fast :thumbsu:
This. I think Dawson and McPharlin will be doubtful for next week with Dawson especially out for a long time. RTB used the words 'looks significant' after the game.

Positives- Great return to form for Chris Mayne who had to play full back after Zac Dawson went down in the 2nd quarter.

Matt De Boer was back to his best, as was Lachie Neale and Zac Clarke.

Suban lifted, Crozier was good except for that horrible shot on goal.

Lachie Neale a player in his 3rd year made Matt Priddis look like a talentless hack.

Negatives- We should have buried that rabble given the stats. We kept them in it with turnovers and missed shots on goal from Fyfe, Ballas, Crozier and Pearce.

They capitalised when McPharlin was off for a lot of the first quarter, and then when Zac Dawson was subbed out.

Lastly, it was great watching the Eagles fans turn on their own players during the game.

Not an issue with the specific event yesterday:thumbsu: more a general reference to his play over his career.
He is a good lock down tall defender that would step several rungs up the ladder if he could cut the brain fades out of his games.

What is Duffield doing at centre square bouncedowns ?
It looked like we were using him for that (magnificent) kick out of congestion. He was loitering on the fringes of the packs as a handball receive option. He also worked to cut off the oppositions loose man sometimes. He wasn't there all game, but he did this role in Q1 and Q3 mostly.

What exactly do you mean by "made Matt Priddis look like a talentless hack"? Last time I checked, Priddis IS a talentless hack.

Our top tier players were fantastic yesterday - Sandilands, Mundy, Fyfe, Barlow, Crowley, Pavlich, Johnson, McPharlin etc.

You might argue Barlow only had 21 disposals but they were all effective and he's still building on match fitness (see his exhausted face before taking a kick late in the fourth) - he really provides a presence up forward when others go missing. Crowley also did the job on Shuey and managed a goal. He also could have a big full-forward presence when the need calls.

Improvement from many of our lower and middle tier players - Neale, Suban, Sutcliffe, Mzungu etc.

Crozier looks impressive but isn't entirely ready for full-time AFL footy yet (Bradley to fill his spot next week); C. Pearce looks a little lost at the moment and needs to lift; same goes for Spurr. Apart from that great effort from the boys.

Why would you replace Crosier with Bradley?

Not sure why people are crowing about Sandi's marking. The only Contested Marks he took were in the last quarter when the game was cooked.

- Mundy going uncharacteristically agricultural on Selwood (was it?). I can't see how the MRP aren't going to charge him TBH.
it was a solid bump but nothing too high about it.

It was a square up for Selwood scragging Fyfe in the 2nd quarter. Fyfey also got him with a massive bump as he took a kick.

Let's have a look at some hypotheticals.

How do we think Dawson and Macca will pull up with their injuries ? Will be significant to lose these two. Especially if Dawson's is long term. Also Macca is getting older and If it is his calf he could be out for a while. We will struggle to cover both of them.

And do you think Fyfe and Mundy will have cases to answer this afternoon ? Fyfe for an attempted strike and Mundy off the ball. Would be very disappointing to lose some more to suspension. Ross will be ropable.

Very concerned about our backline though. With or lack of a forward line our defence has been keeping is in these games

I'm only going off memory with only one viewing, but my initial view was that he didn't bump him, he gave him a good jab in the guts - sort of thing that Balla got done for. Mind you if they assess it similarly, then he should get off with a reprimand. And even if it is a bump, if it's deemed unnecessary off the ball, then he can still get 'rough conduct' with lowish points - it doesn't have to be high to get some sort of penalty.

Anyway, I'm talking without really knowing much - would have to look at it again, and with the MRP going all soft now that they've had their annual 'lets screw Fyfe' moment, all might be well in any case.
