Let's see:

1. He's not quick
2. He gets the ball in space
3. He turns the ball over - twice he kicked into man on the mark on Sunday

For an uncontested player they have to have good skills or speed, otherwise they are not AFL quality.

If they don't drop him this week it's a travesty as he will horrendous round 1 as well. How would the likes of Watson feel?
Watson will be a real worry with turnovers and decision making so the few from Duggan is nothing in comparison

No proof of this though. Give him a chance and let's see what happens. Duggan has been given plenty of chances and has failed.

Notice that Duggan's kicks tend to fall short of the target. Then over longer distances he has a habit of giving them too much air. Not sure what can be done here.

I am in favour of keeping him in the side though.

He'll get his chance, iirc Simpson is putting a bit more faith in training form over Easts form. However, I was concerned with Watson's decision-making during the JLT. He's not quite there, yet. A few productive weeks in the WAFL could lift his confidence, as he was playing good footy last year before injury.

And here are some Venables highlights.

Also for those wondering I like to include all involvements of a player, even if it is negative. That's why you'll see him getting caught HTB twice in the video. I think it gives you a better idea of the player, including his flaws.

Cheers

I love how well this kid finds the ball inside the forward 50, he reads the play when the ball is going forward really well and once he gets another pre season or two under his belt he will be breaking those tackles

A couple of side positives -
*pleased we have a good representation of Indigenous players now.
*Also realised NN received less attention from the commentators and media this week
with Ryan Air in the spotlight now... a good thing I reckon.
Wait till Rioli gets in the groove..!

Regarding the 3 amigos - Redden, Sheed and Duggan...it's Sheed who appears the improver
with more skills. Redden in the Selwood mould, nothing flashy but could be a solid contributor
at the coalface (needs more muscle)...and Duggan is like go-go gadget man, just needs to
find his mojo and settle into a more natural game..as someone said 'the young giraffe with a porno moustache'...more games into him, he'll turn a corner.
Towards the business end of the season the 3 amigos could be well improved, making the midfield solid.

It's interesting that AhChee is being talked up, but is still an unknown quantity yet. I've pinned a few hopes to him myself...that he might just be that final link in the chain, or dynamic we need (until Venables light shines) Or he might take awhile to adjust like Redden? Meanwhile this in the media/presser "exciting utility" Brandon AhChee is expected to return soon.. (exciting already??)

Also there's a feeling of a new spirit, of team solidarity, a growing confidence and belief in what they've learnt in pre-season..is perhaps paying dividends.

Dam, I forgot he could have had 5 goals if he didn't have first goal nerves for his first 2 shots. I know a few of his goals where more from the rest of the teams work, but this has got me really ******* excited. Didn't get the rising star nom with 3 goals, so he's going to need to kick 5 ;).

Odd, Cripps was basically the only teammate who didn't react to Ryan's speccy.

He also doesnt come in and celebrate ANY of his goals with him, despite being in the forward line. I watched closely.

Despite being from the same town aswell. Probably shitn that Ryan Dardz is gonna take his spot

Just watched a replay, and some additional positives from the game:
LeCras - finding the best option consistently rather than going for goal
Lycett - gave us good value for the second ruck spot/fwd
Yeo - had good delivery into the 50, esp off his left foot

Also forgot to mention, Sheed seemed to have a great connection with the ruckmen, his clearance work seemed really good and when he was staying down in marking contests he read the ball off hands very well.

My biggest gripe with him is still his defence.

Reckon Jake had to hold himself back from jumping in and celebrating before he kicked his first. Classic vision.

We were given too much space and we won

-ve
We were given a lot of space and we did not have the killer instinct to achieve a higher scoring percentage.
