Positives and Negatives vs Geelong

Gaff was awful. I heard an interview with him last week and he admitted that his disposal was rusty and felt that getting it 35 times was nothing special if he didn't kick well. Good to know he's onto it, I'm sure he'll come good later.

Something is up with Darling, looks slow and stiff and isn't hitting contests. I haven't seen him this bad for a long time.

The only positives I have is that there is a lot of room to improve. We can use the next block of winnable games to get back into form. We want to be peaking late in the year anyway, the premiership is anyone's at this stage.

+ Hickey. Our best by a mile

- Gaff has completely messed up our midfield. He isn't an inside mid and I'll keep saying it till I'm blue in the face

-Darling. What the hell? This time last year was the best player in the comp. Shouldn't be in the team on form at the moment

-Cripps. For a supposed fwd pressure specialist isn't provided much fwd pressure.

- Unadaptability of our game plan. Fine day on a wide ground we're a good chance vs anyone. Bit of moisture or a narrow ground we have zero plan B

Matt Rosa for Sam Mitchell as midfield coach seems to be a down grade. 🙄 Midfielders need a kick up the arse. Shuey has been non existent, Gaff terrible. Yeo? MIA. Hickey welcome to West Coast, soz we are now s**t.

The forward line is terrible. Kennedy is held all game, Darling is an unco and since his return game Cripps has been unsighted.

Not sure if Rosa has the credentials to give our premiership players the required kicking.

Mitchell however was a different story.

Positives: Giving up 21kg and 23cm is nothing for the jubilant one.

The players know how to play, if the system has changed then that comes from Simpson who asks Rosa to implement it.
They surely have not forgotten how to play and thework ethic required?

I'm usually one for thinking that Masten should be out of the team whenever I have the chance but tonight made me realise how wrong I was .

How bad we are has nothing to do with him at all. We look like absolute trash.

Masten actually had a decent game.

Aberrations. Not the norm

Then they're some pretty massive aberrations, considering we've only played 6 games. That's roughly 40%.

Given we won the premiership literally six games ago, I'm willing to give us the benefit of the doubt.

Yep let's keep living on last years premiership and ignore everything else.

We're literally six games into the new season.

So, we just flick the switch like that and it all comes good?

Sorry not meaning to put words into your mouth.

You do get that we are in a very very bad form slump?

There’s good reason to think the heights this team can hit are still very high. Premiership, GWS, Collingwood.

The issue is the troughs have been remarkably bad and we’d need to address them very quickly. I don’t think you can ignore either the peaks or the troughs.

Probably wrong thread but i CBF (a bit like our mob today it seemed)

I suspect we are missing NN more than people appreciate.

Last year NN got the tackle pressure stuff flying from round 1 to such an extent the passengers we have this year saw true pressure acts as 'normal' in effect NN set the standard which carried through for the year and into finals.

This year it appears as if we are still in full holiday mode. FFS it is nearly May boys.

Those games showed what we can do but this group clearly don’t wish to do it weekly, they have climbed their mountain and it shows in how they are performing.

And they will respond, as they showed last season constantly.

I think it's more than a little unfair to assume that based on six games.

So, we just flick the switch like that and it all comes good?

Yeah, I do. And I'm also willing to believe we can turn it around, given what we did last season.

Not arrogant enough Priddis Is Done.

Oh, I'm not ignoring the lows, I just don't think it's as dire as some people suggest.

-ve: commentator called Cripps dangerous. If a safety pin is dangerous then I guess you could call Cripps dangerous. That moment he froze after not having a handball option. And let himself get mauled by Geelong players was appalling. Yes he should have had help, but my god, he just stood still. The only option worse than that would be if he tackled himself.

I just want my Willie. :(

Negative: We had 11 players with 10 disposals or less - in contrast Geelong had none. Gaff who had most disposals (29) for WCE turned it over 11 times. In fact Gaff in the last 3 weeks had 96 disposals and 28 turn overs - that is nearly 1 in every 3 disposals resulting in a turn over.

I think that is overly harsh. We had burned our last dozen i50 and Cripps was trying to do something positive. Unfortunately for him everyone just ran off with their backs to him.

Another bennie hill moment for us but I think it came from a better place.

Let me be outraged, thanks

Not sure why everyone thinks 1 ruck was so successful. Stanley brutalised Allen for a period there and Geelong kicked away from unlikely to uncatchable.

Get Brooksby in. Oallen out. Brander out. Put in Mallen. We are too ruddy tall. How hard is this for the MC to grasp.
We won the clearances and Hickey was our BOG. One ruck was successful in my eyes.

Hickey was our BOG, no argument there. I 5 voted him.

We just got thumped by 10 goals in pretty good footy conditions. I don't define that as success.

We just won a flag with 2 rucks.

* off the 3rd tall forward we don't need and go back to a structure that won a flag.

Our clearances were the lowest quality POS of all time. 10kg of s**t doesn't smell nicer than 5kg of s**t.
