Autopsy Positives and Negatives Vs GWS

I think Shuey's performance was a positive, led from the front all night. McGovern and Barrass did a good job cutting off a lot of supply down back.

That's about it. Maybe Sheppard's second half, improved a lot. Wellingham tried hard.

+ Shuey continued where he left off - next skipper for sure

+ Barrass -outstanding again, going to be a force

+ Gov - machine

+ Mitch, Priddis, Petrie, Lecca looked spent - clearly end of the road and no regrets for them retiring

- Duggan, Sheed - though Duggo showed he can cover the ground at least

- Kennedy - looks like he's nearing the end as well

Shepard and Weller's! Really.

Sheppard was shocking early, I thought he came back well after that. Wellingham got involved early and did as well as could be expected. I'd be happy enough keeping him as depth.

Redden and Shuey were good.

I'm back to thinking Duggan is putrid. Seriously, he needs an acre of space to dispose of it half competently. Do not rate.

+'s: No more Priddis (am I doing this right???)
Can save the money and thought of not going to the Prelim next weekend
Lynchy still won a premiership. Up the TA's

-'s: Losing 500 + games of midfield experience

Not too many teams win back to back away finals. Struggling to think of any really. Eagles maybe in 92, but they had a week off inbetween, brisbane would be the other team that may have done it. Bulldogs last year won 2 away but had a game in Melb inbetween.
It was never a realistic prospect with the talent we had available.
+ Roll on next year, new stadium and NN.
Edit: Eagles 06 I think, anyway only the great teams and we are far from that.

No forward won, Only JD had some sort of effort but doesn't have the class..

Mids outclassed and our paces. Dumb coaching.
a couple of back had a go. Yoe greatly over hyped.

For the future - Barrass and Sheed stood up = - perhaps add Duggen

What interested me at the ground was the huge lift in effort in the last quarter - is can be done. Capitulation early was disappointing

No run and no skill compared to the Giants. Shifting Kennedy up the ground in the first half was a disaster, Darling is not a #1 forward target, and seems to drop gettable marks, Yeo should not have played on Toby Greene, We still lack capable small defenders and small forwards. Shuey & Mcgovern tried hard but thats about it.

Sadly, Once GWS went in front, we never looked like fighting back.

We aren't as bad as that performance tonight. I know we would have been tired but the attitude was terrible. I'd be interested to know what the mindset was going into the game. Were they putting on a brave face during the week knowing in reality they were cooked? Or did they feel confident but then got ahead of themselves?

+ Boots. Give him the C already.
+ Turbo can take marks all day
+ I assume the general midfield on average will be faster now

- Gotta have another forward target other than Kennedy. You can't expect him to win 2 on 1.
- Or... alternatively, pick someone who knows how to crumb a pack. It's amazing how often a dropped mark is a turnover for us, but an opposition dropped mark ends up with their team-mate.
- Unless LeCras recovers quickly I don't think he's AFL standard. Playing injured for the past 6-8 weeks, and he hasn't put in a single good game.
- **** me Dom Sheed hit a target.
- Right now Duggan is in the same pattern Shuey was circa 2012. Wants to take the game on but lacks awareness.
- I have little faith in our recruiters to replace players and improve the side. They get a free hit with Naitanui, we should be aiming top 4.
- Same deal with the coaches. Turns out Pyke was probably the genius in 2015.

The one target he hit was from the one time he got to start in the guts.

Simpson doesn't manage this team well. I asked earlier why Jetta didn't start on the back of square at all tonight. He lacks imagination as a coach.

what?
umm we were totally out run in the middle field with Priddis Mitchell and Gaff just bombing away and providing no run and carry or actual advantage to anyone.
worse still was Simpson did nothing to change anything . Didn't even dare to try.
in saying that I still love them and our club.

Lol most ridiculous thing I've ever seen on bigfooty. Finished second in the Coleman and missed 5 weeks with injury.

Looks cooked despite the 5 weeks off. Lots of half hearted efforts and token chases. No contested marks, but still good on a lead.
Next season won't be as good as this one i dont think.
The travel starts to take its toll.

The worry is we dont have a replacement..

We may have not got a top 10 pick but just scraping into finals has given our younger blokes 2 extra finals games experience .
They will now have a bettet understanding for what is required to win finals .

List gets turned over big time this year and it should be a new look preseason
