Autopsy Positives and Negatives vs Melbourne

Positives

• Didn’t lose by as much as I assumed.
• West tries so ****ing hard.
• Massive train issues meant most people missed the first quarter. I can only assume the Eagles players were caught up in that too.
• Another week down. Tried to take the corridor on a bit more. Piss poor skills undid most periods of momentum we could muster but seems like they’re trying to do something else.

Negatives:

• Ryan’s an idiot and Foley is out after a nice game.
• 15 players on the training track this week and I can’t expect it’ll be many more this week.

Just going to have to keep copping shit like this until the skills get fixed, which it seems is a list build away not just a patch of form away.

Ah well.

Best 12 goal loss in days!

Some really good positives at times.
Thought we were better than them for the 2nd and 3rd quarters.
Tackling was excellent throughout.

One negative that particularly stood out to me was Duggan.
He really looked out of his depths defending at times.

West with 29 disposals, 7 tackles and 5 clearances from 66% TOG was a huge positive. I know his disposal isn't the most polished but he showed today that he isn't just a one trick pony that is only an in and under player. The constant breaking of tackles and weaving out of traffic along with breakway speed stuck out and was a joy to watch.

A loss is a loss, but not as bad as I thought.

Some positives though.

• Gov and TB were great down back.
• Naish has his correct number and kept his 9 game streak alive.
• Jamo was okay in the ruck.
• Kelly was decent.
• Clark has some skills.

Biggest positive though was



Negatives:

• commentary was vomit inducing
• Ryan’s brain farts
• most other things

• For the first time imho West looked like he could be genuinely good and not just handy depth.

• Darling is shrinking with every week.
• With JK out I was hoping to see Waterman play a whole game at full forward to see how he goes, but nope. I still think he can be Jack Gunston

I thought Ryan was pushed into the contact - but I actually don't mind. we must play on the edge more

• West's tackling, dash, composure (though perhaps not quite his finishing skills). Brilliant game.
• Foley was good, took some courageous marks before being concussed in Q4.
• Some good forward movements, and even when we played "keepys off" we seemed to have intent to move it forward once we switched
• Kelly played well

Waterman was our weakest player - pitiful robber of attacking momentum and feeble when defending. lost us 3-4 goals. an absolute rabbit in headlights.

Ryan's bump.
Last quarter fade-out again.
Turnovers.
Another flogging and the biggest by the Dee's.

A bit to be happy with there. 2nd and 3rd quarters were full of pretty good signs. Great effort for most of the game until the dees unsusprisingly ran us off our feet.

Some nice signs with ball use around the contest at times

Good games from a fair few defenders.

Awesome game from West. Has been building and is becoming a really solid player. Kicking can be iffy but his effort and sense around packs is genuinely impressive.

The forward line is a real mess.

Not Ryan's finest hour.

Positives:
Our best player just happened to be our hardest working/hardest training player, incredible how that works. Well done Connor West, worked his arse off.

We’d be utterly ****ed without TB and Gov, thought they held up well making life as difficult as possible for their forward line.

Thought there were a few very nice passages of play that only needed one more clean possession to be very nice chains, only to be blundered by either a fumble (Cripps), kick backwards instead of forwards or missed kick.

One step closer to melting over taking Florenca before Culley in the MSD.

Won on the dees minus.

Negatives:
Outside of a small few, barely any of our players want the hard contest.

Rotham absolutely never does and outside of TB/Gov pretty much our whole defence. Could have been a lot messier if dees took their opportunities.

Four players in the contest (plus the rucks) seems very very low. I like the names there but surely throw a few extras in, an SPS, a Jones.

Yep, was slightly pushed into an already poor decision. But agree we should play closer to the line (should have smashed a few of their defenders with knees in marking contests in the 1st half. Good teams do that).

He'll get 2 weeks. Negligent, yep fair enough. High contact, yes.

Will be graded medium impact due to 'potential to injure'. We won't, but we should, argue that. He basically got him flush. If there was going to be any damage it would have happened,but there wasn't enough pace to cause injury (even with the added push). Should be low impact (possibly for additional lol's we argue that he calculated the weight difference and knew he wouldn't seriously injure the opposing player?)

63,84,109,75, 74 as losing margins just isn't good enough, surely worst of all time stuff.

We showed merit in moments but the amount of negative 12 point plays we allow to happen with piss poor turnovers is sickening.
