POSITIVES from Essendon Match

:D

I really think Kenny coming back is going to help our forward line out

I would like to see Kenny come in, Perries back to North - suffer RL. I would also like to see Maric come back in and Griffen played as a roamin tall forward. For a big guy, he knows how to find the footy and where to position himself. Very impressive IMO.

Bock seemed to be your only forward target. He played very well, as did Thompson. Tell you what though, I was *****ting myself at the start of the last qtr when McLeod decided he felt like tearing us apart.

You need to find something in your forward line. Maybe drop Perrie and get S.Welsh leading, or use Stevens up forward.

Whislt Stevens has been consistantly useless up forward for us at AFL level, he may have come in handy up forward today. Unfortunately, the only forward we have in the side at the moment who can be relied upon to play back is Bock, and it would have been majorly counter-progressive to swap those two. We're very short of tall men at the moment, and will be until McGregor or even Roo can return.

Griifin - he is going to be a gun, really really impressed, was disappointed not too see him up forward more today

And learn how to ****ING kick under pressure.

For me, Thompson EASILY our best player. Great game. I thought Reilly was also sensational with some of his inside work. Top stuff.

Griffin was very good for a first gamer. I was VERY impressed with Van Berlo's first quarter but no where to be seen after half time. Knights got a lot of the ball but ****ed it up at crutial time and Douglas did a couple of good things but thats about it.

And for anyone who says Bode doesn't deserve to be in the side have a look at the ****ing ease that the ball came out of our forward 50. From my count, Essendon scored 4 goals by running it easily out of their defence where our forwards thought that applying pressure was not their thing [/QUOTE]

I totally agree. Bode had the most tackles in the forward 50 in the AFL last year. The dons had Davey and Jetta in the forward line running and chasing after our defenders. THis really put pressure on us and we coughed it up a few times due to the pressure and CHASING that their forwards did. THe Knagas have Thomas and Cambelll in there as well. All 4 players mentiopned are excitement machines/freaks+have speed to burn. Even though Bode doesn't have and of those qualities, he just runs all day, has a big heart and put pressure on the defender whenever they are trying to rebound. Even though Bode only kicked around 30 or so goals last year, I reckon he made another 30 by just running at the defender.

Well atm we are in the position for Priority Picks.

I guess thats a positive.

The postives I saw from the game were:

-Van Berlo: I have never been a fan of him, but today I saw some great glimpses. Had one of his best games for the Crows.

- Griffin: Has come along way in a very short period of time. Fantastic debut. Is going to have a fantastic year. If he keeps his form, I hope the Crows leave him in the side once Maric and Meesen are fit again.

There were a couple of 5 minute periods where we played well (start of last quarter springs to mind) as well. Lets hope we play more often like these periods in future.

We're still going to have a great season I believe.
