In my 30 years of supporting this great club that was the worst effort I have seen from an eagles tea,
McGovern - Seems to have gone backwards after the 2019 season
Hurn - Is cooked
Kennedy - Love him but its not his fault the ball is living in the defensive half and when it does come in its a long shithouse kick

Midfield - Yeo, Shuey, Kelly, Gaff (i know he was out), Sheed and Redden. That is 3 All Australians and a Norm Smith Medalist and we got cleaned up

THe game plan is totally outdated
The only times I have seen us play as bad were:

-a few games in 2008 where we were coming to grips on how to play without Cousins and Judd (Kerr was also injured). An away game against the Pies comes to mind.
- back end of 2013. We absolutely rolled over against Pies, Cats and Crows. It was clear that Worsfold had lost the players.

I think Simmo has lost the players at the moment. It's not to say they won't play for him, but they have lost faith in how he wants them to play. There was clear frustration from some of the defenders yesterday, probably due to the lack of pressure up field. When things got really bad, most of the team camped in the D50, just aimlessly clogging up space and looking like they wanted it to end.

Nobody should be surprised with Hickey.

He has ALWAYS been a competent AFL ruckman when allowed to ruck solo like he does at Sydney.

Unfortunately that opportunity was never ever going to happen with a fit Naitanui, so trading him was the right idea and at that point his value was only ever depth. Can't demand a 2nd round pick when all he ever did was play backup and spend his time on the bench. One of the few times he DID play a full game for us vs Geelong at GMHBA, he was BOG.

22 Disposals, 13 contested (2nd most on the ground), 4 marks, 2 tackles, 6 clearances and 21 hitouts is a fair return against Naitanui.

Nic had 15 disposals, 8 contested, 1 mark, 5 tackles, 3 clearances, and 25 hitouts.

Got nothing but admiration for Hickey. Glad he's getting some recognition and found a suitable club.

Hear hear.
He's a nice lad, tries his guts out each game and isn't afraid to try to run after guys twice his speed and get over the ball. Not always super slick but he's consistent, something which 95% of our list ARE NOT.

After re-watching (yes i am a sucker for punishment)

+
Duggan didn't go missing the whole game

-
Jogging over running
Poor tackling
Low effort

I see a rebuild incoming

I saw a post in this thread about how the rhetoric in recent seasons has been about wins not percentage in response to frustration by fans regarding their last quarter fade-outs. Now that bug has grown to become full-game fade outs.
Sydney showed how it’s done by unrelentingly grinding out the entire game - that’s how you do it. The fact that this was done by a team of virtual no-names (except WA’s finest Buddy), this just underscores that point.
Sydney have a creed to give everything no matter what - what’s our creed? What are we about?

If I was a player and I was doing what was asked of me and the result was a spanking then mentally I would say to myself “what’s the point”.

Why am I going to run to this position or stick with said pattern when it results in the opposition just walking it from one end to the other in the blink of an eye. Maybe a large portion of the players are questioning the approach.

if simmo said to the boys at 1/4 time. Forget everything and do what the **** you want would the swans still have kicked the onslaught of goals? I can’t fathom how this team can serve up that shit campaigner football

Almost forgot:

Positive - we didn't have to hear our abomination of a club song. Seriously that steaming audio pile of sh*t is a jinx on this club.
They probably don't even have the new version .
They played our old song at the SCG earlier in the year

Friends - Family - a Flag?
Also this from Simmo - "I think we need to own it, collectively all of us, coaches included.." (finally)
