You say that like it's a good thing. He chose the worst possible time throughout the year to play his "bad game"

Personally i'd have preferred him to do it when we're bullying a shit team.
Do you play Footy mate, It happens sometimes you rock up confident and ready and it just ends up not being your day, What im eluding to is if I had a bad game and still had 25 touches I would be happy enough usaully my bad games I dont even make double figures haha

Yes i do.

But that right there just shows that all you care about is possessions and that's it. Feel free to watch the game some time this year, 10 of those touches benefited essendon.

It's just that his bad days are always against quality teams. Go figure.

Half the Essedon possessions benefited the Eagles too, Was a game for clanger was quite comedic at times , I don't think many people would watch as much footy as I do mate , One of the benefits of been single I guess

Priddis was BOG last week and not far off against the Crows but he was straight up awful yesterday. Absolute liability with the ball in hand. The net effect of his game was a negative for us.
Yep, i think hr tried really hard as usual, but was just too tired to back it up. He put in a huge effort 2 weeks in a row. Deserves some slack, i guess.

Backed up with more really good ball movement in the first half & made another opponent look decidely average. Also see negative below.
Schofield used first option yesterday - rather than hanging onto the pill for too long and running himself into trouble.
Sheed did some really good things early (but went MIA when game was on the line)
Defence was exceptional yesterday.
MGovern's bump on Goddard and his general attack of the ball

-
Couldn't stop the Essendon roll when they came at us.
Another close loss
Couldn't take advantage of a dominant first quarter - went inside 50 lots of times for no result.
Started to bomb the ball into the forward lined when Essendon came at us - couldn't/wouldn't keep the ball moving.
Darling got molested - at the same time he seemed to do a Dean Cox and wave his arms around rather than competing strongly for the ball.
Wanted to see Lycett in the ruck - don't know why Simmo didn't send him to the ruck when we were losing control of the game.
Kennnedy went MIA for long periods of the game.
Brown's brain fade.

Is Nic Nat injured/recoving/struggling for fitness? he has no burst like he used to have, doesnt leap anymore he used to be on peoples shoulders multiple times per game, he used to win his own tap take the ball and run through the guts I've seen him do that twice this year.

Positive

We nearly won a game with the following missing - LeCras, Shepperd, Yeo, Selwood, Wellingham, Ellis and Rosa, plus long termer Waters.

Negative

We lost another game with a handy lead.

Sorry but.. what? Everyone DID step up, that is what i'm saying. Matt is one of the few people in the team yesterday who did NOT step up. I was just pointing out that he did nothing for 3 quarters. Shuey, Hurn and Gaff got us out to a 6 goal lead while Matt really hadn't got out of first gear.

From what i saw yesterday, he carried nothing. Which is good isn't it? Isn't that what you want, less load on Matt?
well everyone stopped @ half time so i am not sure who you talked about stepped up. in any case, burn isn't an inside mid nor gaff. both rely on osmoene giving them the ball and whilst shuey can do some inside work, his best work is running with ball in hand.

so my question is, which player decided to roll up sleeves and dig in on inside to help matt out? answer noone.

The most disappointing thing was the team selection under the circumstances. The match committee knew we had a 6 day break + having to travel yet we went in top heavy with a lack of runners which showed in the second half. Just poor.

You keep saying "help Matt out" like Matt was actually doing something. Matt did NOTHING. Racking up 9 ineffective touches in the last quarter and 1 very good one, doesn't mean Priddis carried anything.

It shouldn't be up to Shuey or Gaff to lift us in the crunch period. They got us a six goal lead after all. You'd think our supposed "best player", potential captain and club leader, brownlow smoky and underrated gun should have maybe pulled his head in when it mattered?

He had a bad day. Get over it. I'm sure he didn't stink it up just to piss you off, although the idea has some merit.

Positives -

Sheed looking to be finding his feet. Some of his disposal was awful but I don't know how you can't be getting excited about the space he can find in traffic. He is nailing the hard part and screwing up the easy bit. Much prefer this than vice versa.

Emac

First half delivery into the forward 50 continues to improve.

Negatives -

Second half delivery inside 50. Back to our worst there.

No player stood up during the bombers 5 goal run or indeed in the last Q when we still could have win the game with the bombers poor kicking. Where was the gut run? So static :(

Inability to capitalise on the scoreboard when dominating general play. We really need a decent crumber to give us something when the ball comes to ground i50. Currently it's mark or GTFO. Our stoppages i50 are not-threatening - we need a free kick to get a shot it seems. So much wasted forward pressure on Saturday.

Biggest ****-tease season I can remember. We're in, no we're out, no we might be in, no we're out,wait...we could be in ad nauseum!

- Priddis the only player to get 10 possessions in the final quarter
- Our rucks were all poor. NicNat isn't fit
- Who the hell was on Heppell? WTF!!
- Tunbridge as sub
- Another inexcusable lapse
- Umpires, when our talls are manhandled, chopped arms, taken out off the ball with complete impunity if deprives us of our aerial dominance and turns a weapon into into a liability. It was so obvious you'd almost question if it were an AFL directive - cheating pricks. 3-5 goal differential at least.

+ McGovern, Hurn, first half
+ My care factor

Lycett should have been in the ruck more. I don't think he even rucked outside of our forward 50.

He would have generated a lot of energy, tackling pressure and cleaner hitouts than Naitanui (was well below his best) and Cox (better around the ground).

It's an absolute disgrace that we played 3 rucks and had a tired looking Nic Nat loping around in the second half.

Seriously Simmo, WTF?!?!

It was a gutless effort by the boys in the second half. Either the team is mentally fragile or we do not have the leadership and class to absorb the pressure teams throw at us. I think a bit of both.

Took quite a few positives out of the game.

Injuries mean a sub-par midfield literally has no depth. As such we end up playing a mid-fwd as sub.

Simmo appeasing Dean Cox's retirement meant we went in completely too tall, compounded when Butler had to go off.

Two more runners and two less talls and we run that game out.

Shuey's progression after a season or two of stagnation contibues

I think the 3 rucks was a bad choice, especially with losing Butler meant we lacked run. 6 day break compared to 8 as well

You do realise, not many players get 10 possessions in a quarter?

It did hurt but Simmo said he picked his best 22 and Dean happened to be in it. Struggling to think of who could have pushed Dean out of that best 22.
The Butler injury did hurt us but I don't think it would have stopped the flood. We are just fragile when the pressure is on.
