Adams: Could be such a good player if he wasn't such a woeful kick. His footskills are a serious concern. okay game. 5/10

He had many Friends in the 1st Half where Crap Kicks

  • Grundy showing why he is Easily our Number 1 Ruckman
  • Crisp Tried his Heart out
  • Pendles and Swan where Solid
  • Adams Tried his heart out
  • Did not drop our Heads in 2nd Half
I don't know if this was a positive, as in reality it was Witts struggling and showing himself to be well below the standard of Grundy. I would have said that Swan had his worst game since about 2005.

I think when you're looking long term, we've got four top 10 picks to introduce into the team, you've got blokes like Reid, Sidey, Greenwood, Seedsman that will hopefully add a lot upon return, and you've got the natural evolution of young players such as Broomy, Adams, Ben Ken, Crisp, Sinks, Williams, Frost, Witts and Grundy to look forward too.

Doesn't really address the positives for this round, but after a loss it can be hard to keep perspective, but a lot to look forward to this year.

9 day break and onto the next round.

Great post.

People will bag Witts, I know. but he will improve given time--we should remember his finish to last year, and that he is coming back from injury and from the VFL. Other than that one error, he hasn't lost his marking ability, which was one of the highlights of his games at the end of last year. Good to see him back and getting real match experience.

Will come good.

Witts is Slow and has Not Much Footy Smarts

we kicked 5 goals in a row, swung the momentum. and were within 4 goals halfway through the last quarter. I'd say we were in it.

I thought we got in with 6 Goals? Still did not sense we could win that game. Cats are not Carlton or Brisbane or Gold Coast

Brown. Only real positive. I am not including Pendles because he is always a positive so he goes without saying.

I liked the way we were able to work back into the game after the phenomenal first quarter by Geelong.

Agree - Was good heads did not go down and at least tried to get back in the Game

I'm as dissapointed as anyone but all is not lost. Hesitives.

- Nathan Brown is lock in this team right now and has proved plenty of people wrong, he beat Hawkins on a day when there was plenty of supply.

- We have 2 of our 4 best mids still to come back in(Sidey, Greenwood). Hard to win the Clearances without them and they will be massive for us in the back half of the year.

- Grundy showed heart yet again, needs to clean up his kicking but he is going places.

- Broomy showed good signs, will play a full game next week and I back him in to hold that spot for the year.

- Ramsey, Seedsman and Sidey should all come in next week. Massive boost.

Add anything you can.
Another positive thread!Thank you.We all know we didnt turn up tonight but there is a huge upside. We'll learn so much from that game. And so much talent to add

Its not OUR fault your maths is bad;).23points is 4 goals any day of the week

Well Sorry - Though we did kick 5 in a Row to at make it look closer. We where never ever going to come all the way back

No need to apologise,i was just stirrin. And we'll never know what could off happened if CALAMITY CLOKE had kicked that goal.Watchin football (esp this season),dont underestimate momentum.Once a team has it,very hard to stop.Dare to dream!!!

Well Geelong had it all 1st Half and we stopped it and had a Bit of it in 2nd Half but when White and Cloke are Shocking Kicks for Goals it makes it hard to keep it the Momentum Up

I'm a fan but I saw nothing from tonight to distinguish him from any other of our players who were well beaten by their opponents. Hopefully he will be better for the run next week. 12 possession seems about par for a player coming on as the sub at half time.
He will be a great player. At this point he is tracking well and his stats are comparable to most of our gun mids over the past 10 years from an equivalent amount of matches. He will need some bigger players around him to really shine, but that's what I'm hoping De goey, Maynard ect can offer in a couple of years.

Swans been a champ but he is finished. He only wants the easy ball now if he loses the initial contest he ofyen gives up and puts in a half effort instead of fighting tooth and nail to win.

Positives:
Not losing our shit after 1/4 time. At least they showed fight.

Negatives:
Cloke's goal kicking
White's lack of effort
Goldsack and Blair go to water against tough teams - not good enough for two of our more experienced players.
While Buckley's coaching is improving, his selections are questionable. One forced change but made three to a winning team.

DTM in every thread making sure we know Witts is sloppy seconds in comparison to his main man.

He's like a Grundog with a bone.

Gets quite tiring.

Both will be good ruckmen. Yes Witts had a couple of bad moments last night but it was his first game of the year after coming back from injury.

I liked that we we're pretty close to getting back in the game from being 60 points back

Also liked that they didn't roll over and got themselves somewhere near the contest again. Whether that said more about us or Geelong is the debatable part.
Browny was good and Clokeys kicking couldn't possibly get any worse were positives.

Are you for real? There have already been a few games this year when Swan has been able to influence the game in a few minutes.
Last night he was started off the ball.

When he was put back in the middle he had a few clearances almost instantly and featured in many goals thereafter.

He was not the issue and he is still having a role to play for some time.
