think people have to be realistic - the side is insanely young - we are playing the premiership favorite who are coming off a bad loss the week before.

our fitness is a massive issue i think - we ceither cannot or can't be bothered running out games and it makes the result look so much worse than it was

the positives are there for those that want to see them

I agree, I couldn't care less about the margin you can see little positives here and there. Still think we are far too short forward and Newman has got to be moved into the middle or forward.

We had some good moments tonight but again too many errors. And, our young players are nowhere near as fit or strong as the bulldogs.

It was interesting that Hardwick was coaching from the ground today, and not in the coaches box.

There were a lot of positives.

One it can't get any worse and it and that bad so chill and get a grip. Life is good!

Two, Connors played well before the injury and showed a lot.

Three, Cotchin virtually stated he will be a superstar baring injury. So he won't be leaving the Tigers unless a club in the next 3 years offer him 2million a year.

Four, Hislop played well generally when he got it - Good effort from him barring a few decisions.

Five, Tambling got a bit braver and needs to improve on this each week as he continues to work that body muscle!

Six, Edwards was better and looked more at home in defence. Showed good run out of attack and evasiveness. If he can time his attacks a little better could make this position on the small forwards his own rotating through the midfield as required as he builds his body mass/muscle like Tambling

Post gave as a little something up forward. Shows a lot of promise up forward particularly as he develops his mass/mucsle particularly in the thighs and calves through the core as his balance/power ratio improves.

Six Martin continued on his merry way. So all in all very good as we continue to develop our list and add some of our new recuits

Neutral perspective, clearly boys v men thats why you guys should be realistic and patient (i know, its tough).

The side was out muscled and out skilled. Too many turnovers. Too many silly errors. These new crop of kids coming up have talent so in time, with proper coaching, hopefully these errors get stamped out of your game

There were patches where you guys played pretty well and raised the intensity, like the last 5 minutes before half time. You guys were running hard, chasing, tackling, causing bulldogs to make errors etc.. Melbourne did that yesterday to us but for the whole game and it made them competitive. You guys need to find a way to keep that up.

It will all come with game time for these kids, as they grow up together they will work as a team better and the confidence will come.

Not sure what to make of Posty's game, was a bit underwhelmed TBH coz I thought he was better than that, dropped a number of sitters and looked lost as a forward...perhaps he is better suited to a defensive role, he has a dip and puts his body on the line, but seriously never looked like taking a contested mark which is a worry

and liked Hislops game off HBF much better than last week, was in the game , competed well and dished it off quite well, if he can build on that he could be a player

Once again a very steep learning curb, and while we have many 'young players,' I reckon the 2 in debut seasons (Nason and Marton) were some of our better players tonight. The young and inexperienced excuse doesn't sit well with me anymore. We continually get burnt but skill errors but I reckon it's because we have nothing on up the field, and when there is that player is incapable of taking a grab. We would hit a short target in the D50 well and play on, but because nothing was on ahead, we'd have to stop, then hit another short one off 2-3 steps. Our forwards need to work alot harder to present. (Morton and Jack - who are seasoned players) He's never gonna be as good, but Jack should try and play like his cousin - run and present. He's a pussy far too often imo.

We were in our zone well tonight I thought, but the Dogs went through it far too easily, where as on the other hand, we had absolutely nothing to kick to. That's where we need some ruckman that can cause a contest. When the dogs had nothing on, they went to big Wilbur or Rock Hudson who at the least would bring it down to Boyd/Cross/Coon/Missy to clear. Simmonds and Vickery just don't have the ability to do that.

Hit the nail on the head. There is never anyone moving up the field like there are for the dogs, Swans, Cats.....we rarely have an option to hit up as the mids are not working hard enough to present. Need to improve in this area to help the ball carrier out.

The scoreboard might not show it but we were worse against Carlton than the Dogs.

Though I'd be surprised if Carlton was indeed our worst performance of the season.

expectations too high

he can't take a game by the scruff of its neck because we're a shit side with shit players.

you can't soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by dodos
agree with this to a point. thought he went okay without dominating.

My positive for this week was the performance of our young midfield.

First off we won the clearances against the Dogs a side that are one of the better teams at clearing the ball. 19 clearances from Deledio(4) Martin(8) Cotchin(3) & Thomson(4) while Jackson had (0). Add to that Cotchin Deledio Jackson(22 disposals each) Martin (21) Thomson(18) & Tambling(16) had a combined 121 touches. It might not mean much to some but this was only their second game as a group and as the game wore on I could see them starting to click. They would run for each other, block for each other and look for each other. The other thing that pleased me about this was that as a group they averaged 78.8% efficiency, not sure why people complain say we turn the ball over too much in the midfield. Another positive to come out of this is that Deledio is the only one with 100 games while Tambling and Jackson have played 70+ each. The rest of that group are still kids and yet they took it up to the more experienced and harder bodies of the Dogs, if they can do it again next week against the Swans at the SCG then regardless of the score I'll be smiling after the game for it will be a clear indication that were on the right track.
