I think overall Freo didn't play well. I think that we are yet to put a full 4 qtr team effort in. There are some great signs though and i'm not going to blame anyone player for the whole team playing poorly. Gold Coast were playing out of their skins and did everything they could to win the game. Fremantle did as much as they needed to do to win.

We are 4 - 2 with a draw most people had us at 2-4. It's not our attack winning us games it has been our defence. Dawson is a major part of our defence.

Oh dear, you didn't see the irony in your post then, shame. I found it an extraordinary comment considering your constant villification of Mzungu/Pearce/Johnson/McPhee, guys who've been very good this year but who you refuse to give credit to even when they play an onbviously good game.

I have not once bagged mcphee... i challenge you to find a post where i have

only two weeks ago, i posted nothing but praise for mzungu, pearce and johnson.... im more than prepared to admit when im wrong, on those occassions so far this year I have been. Johnson in particular has been a wonderful surprise. mzungu and pearce have been great as well, although they both need to maintain the rage for the year to have fully convinced me

If i can admit where im wrong, so should others.... and the rubbish that has been spewed out about dawson over the last 5 months is plain wrong

1) Sandi and Fyfe didn't play, Hill hardly played and Pav and Barlow didn't do a hell of a lot, thats 5 of our best players not being all that influential yet we still won. In the past if all these players hadn't fired then we wouldn't have won no matter who we were playing (we couldn't win without Sandi as recently as last yr) so there are signs that we are becoming less dependent on a few stars and more of a balanced team.

2) Following on from that our best players were Mayne, DeBoer, Crowley, Pearce and Ibbotson in the past if these blokes were in our best players then we would have lost so it shows our second tier is starting to improve which is good for the team.

3) We won and on the road. It was played in a similar style to the way we have played all year so at least we are bringing a consistent brand of football and we should get better once Sandi, Mora and Fyfe come back and Mundy and Barlow gain full match fitness.

how is it that people who spend time on an AFL board, who clearly watch and support the fremantle football club, can not see past the odd clanger to see all the good work that gets done, fyfe is afforded that luxury, why not Zac?

those saying that dawson is overpair.... he is on the league average!

those saying he gets beaten week in and week out... the most goals he has had kicked on him this year is 2!

He leads our team for 1%'s

It beggars belief and borders on embarrasing..... we have one good area on the ground... our defence, dawson is a big part of that.... and some how, whilst dawson has been aparently stinking it up at afl level.... silvagni has grown another foot, can kick the ball accurately over 150 meters and can use mental telepathy to ensure that the likes of franklin dont get near the ball :o

This. Very well put.

Our team defence has been good, but I'm not sure the back 6 should get all the credit for this. Its an 18 man defence.

Guess we're all entitled to our own opinions and that's what makes BF work. Are you any different to KPR? I don't think De Boer has been better this year than last, he's been ok but very good is overstating it imo - lucky to be in our best 15 for the year. He can make 2-3 stuff ups each week and you disregard it, yet you're happy to have people bag Dawson for the same. FWIW I agree with you that Mzungu, Johnson, McPhee, Pearce and Mayne are improved this year. Having said that, they all make plenty of errors and clangers too.
