1. Pearce - nearly 30 touches and one of the few who seemed switched on and laying hard tackles. Even his cramps were well timed...
2. Neale - good effort for a first full game, doesn't look out of place out there at all. So bloody young...
3. Ibbo - great job down back, very composed under pressure, and also seemed to be able to defend well in marking contests - a few good spoils when he looked right out of position. Duffman should look and learn...
4. MJ - another composed and focused game down back - especially when we were pissing around and falling in a heap, he was one of the few that stood up and kept focus.
5. Griff - did well as a replacement for Sandi, and also wasn't afraid to get in and do the hard work (tackling, smothering) at ground level.
6. Mayne - inspirational stuff, never gave up, and his tackles and chase downs were great.
7. DePig - how much has he improved his kicking for goal!!
8. Rosskoe Pekoe's coaching - great to see us trying a few things and switching players around to different roles when things weren't working. I didn't agree with every move (McFree to forward line was silly) but how great is it to have a coach that actually trys things during the game, instead of just sitting there like a stunned mullet (Connolly/Harves) when things don't go as planned.
9. Mzungu - one of our only form midfielders at the moment. In the absence of much impact from Barlow and Mundy, he has stood tall. Difficult to believe it is only his second season.
10. We won.

Seriously, our own supporters have how many insulting names for our players?

Top work

McPhee has actually been pretty good this year as well.

1. last 2 away games won
2. lachie niel
3.there is no thread about negatives,i havnt got time to read one

McFree isn't an insult, it refers to the fact we picked up McPhee in the PSD and didn't have to give anything to Essendon for him - hence McFree.

And I agree (strongly) that he has had a decent year this year - down back - which is why I didn't agree with Ross moving him forward, I thought Elvis was doing enough up forward to be left there, and keep McPhee down back where he was doing well.

That said, the point in that part of my post was to compliment Ross for being willing to switch things around during the game, so it certainly wasn't meant as an insult.

And Lach, Pearce wasn't awful, he was one of the few on our side that ran hard and effectively through all four quarters. If Barlow or Mundy had done the same you'd be ecstatic, for some reason a few on here can't move past bagging Clancee despite his excellent form o far this year.

Chopper great game, soon great 1%ers and solid leads.
MJ solid all season and very good today
Ibbo - last two games has been great and I'm a bit of a critic of his.
Spurr - mopped up well late after a shaky start.
Neale - will be a player.
Sandi to come back.
Mora not far off.
Winning a game without playing well.

Lachie Neale was great.
Mayne did well, took some good marks surprisingly enough.
Roberton actually had a descent game I thought. Wasn't a liability that he has been in previous games.
And another good performance from Clarke, we would be in alot of strife if this guy wasn't playing.

Neale, Spurr, Johnson, Ibbotson were good. Ballas tried all game.

Mayne did ok, De Boer was good apart from when he shit his pants and cost us a goal

Kicked those 3 after than incident though and was throwing his weight around in the end, more than redeemed himself. Mayne continued the good form he's been in this year, couldn't ask for more from a 3rd tall really.

I've torn strips off of Ibbo and Johnson in the past but they continue to prove me wrong, and Clarke is going to be a very special player, just re-enforces it everytime I see him play. Elite movement and wonderful skills for such a big guy, his marking has improved exponentially too.

Oh yeah and you can really understand the hype over Neale pre-season, looks like he'll be a serious player.

1. I'd go with all of PBG's positives including that regarding Pearce. Lach is in a foul mood so I would take a bit out of his assessment - Pearce wasn't clinical, but compared to a good deal of the rest of our midfield which looked pedestrian, Pearce was switched on and hard at it all day.

2. Also add/highlight DeBoer hitting not one but two set shots at goal!!! Solid game in general, but for a guy who gets into such good attacking positions his ability to fluff a set shot is murder - very glad to see him hit them with confidence tonight.

3. I'll add one out of left field too - for the first time this season I saw a glimpse of Mundy in form. His first quarter was top shelf ... unfortunately he just died as the game went on and is seriously seriously out of match conditioning. But there was something to like there early in the piece.

1. Still a shiteload of improvement to come

This is about it for me, and we won.

Oh, and seeing De Boer scare the shite out of sniper Brown. Quite funny the way Brown kept ducking his head trying to get some kind of cheap head butt in on the pig as De Bor just kept shoving him back

Neale showed a lot of composure and took his chances when they came.

Mayne competed well and is starting to hold his marks when on a fast lead.

Clancee was solid.

We managed to win away with a lot of players down on form and that is the sort of games we have managed to lose in the past.

Sandi will be back soon!

Unfortunate for Bock, but De Boer proved he's built like a brick outhouse

Yep, most other players would have ended up with broken ribs when they copy a knee in them, but old iron guts managed to break Bocks leg!

A shame to see good players go down but take on iron guts at your peril!

Sorry. My apologies. I'm a bit sensitive to some of the sniping of our own players that's been happening lately.

He was reminding De Boer he'd squibbed it

How can anyone knock Pearce. 29 disposals at 76% efficiency and equal second highest clearances with 5. He made a few clangers but so did everyone, Ballaz made the most clangers. Mayne was fantastic and brought us back into the game. A few players worked back into the game eg De Boer.

- Clarke is so far ahead of where I would expect him to be in his development.
- Ibbotson was one of our best IMO.

The biggest positive is that the game is now over and in the past + we escaped with the 4 points.
