One from left field. I wouldn't be surprised if Marley Williams comes into contention!

I only have Beams and Pendlebury at this stage.

Elliott may make the squad of 40 but Gray, Wingard, Breust and Gunston should all be selected ahead of him and that's before considering how midfield happy the All Australian selectors are, mostly electing to pick midfielders and stick them forward rather than actual general forwards.

Langdon may finish top 3 in the rising star, maybe top 2. He's not making the squad of 40 let alone All Australian. He'd be lucky to be considered among the 10 best "general defenders" in the game this year excluding key defenders. He's had some excellent weeks but he's also had his quiet weeks which he'll eradicate with time from his game before he enters All Australian discussions.

I reckon Elliot will get picked in the 40. They like flashy players cos they think it makes the AA more prestigious.

This is my halfway team...

B: Michael Johnson - Harry Taylor - Nick Malceski
HB: Shaun Burgoyne - Cale Hooker - Jimmy Bartel
C: Dan Hannebery - Joel Selwood - Dayne Beams
HF: Robbie Gray - Tom Hawkins - Patrick Dangerfield
F: Lance Franklin - Jarryd Roughead - Luke Breust
RUCKS: Aaron Sandilands - Scott Pendlebury - Gary Ablett
INT: Josh Kennedy (Syd) - Steve Johnson - Travis Boak - Chad Wingard

It's a combination of what I think, plus what I think the selectors will do.

That's pretty close but Roughead has been putrid a lot of the year apart from today, and a lot of KPFs going alright. Can see it if you think he will have a big 2nd half.

And Stevie J had been way down the past month, see that spot going to perhaps Libba, Fyfe or Rockliff.

Long way to go, but a few I'd consider are Jay Schulz, Kade Simpson & Jack Gunston. In that side with a bit to prove imo are Lance Franklin (how many good games has he really had?, Stevie J who has had a quiet month or so. Roughy has been very up and down also

Oh, and if Gerard Healy is still on the selection committee, you'll have to find a spot for Shaun McKernan and Steele Sidebottom

The only 2 midfielders that have been better than Beams imo are Ablett and Pendlebury, and maybe Kennedy.

He really hasn't been. Beams would be leading the Copeland right now in my opinion, followed by Pendles then maybe Caff for following coaches orders every week. Pendlebury and Beams the only realistic AA chances right now. Elliott would be too if he'd stayed forward more. He'd probably be up there in the Coleman. The team is more important though.

Then Wingard would Struggle to get in the 22 of AA as he is just plays up Forward.

Well then all 1st Year Players would never be AA

Beams is far from a lock.
It we don't make top 4 - probably only Pendles will get in.
If we make top 4, and they have a great individual finish to the season - both Beams and Elliot could get in. Swan is always an outside chance if he monsters the next half of the season.

Outside of that, I don't think anyone else would even be in the 40-man list.

Far from a lock? if he keeps up current form hes definitely a lock. Hes a goal kicking midfielder and thats music to AA selecters ears. Hes just as much of a chance to be AA this season as Pendles.

If Langdon was an already established player he would be in consideration, not a lock though. He will be discussed briefly in the meetings as he is high in the defensive stats like intercept marks, rebound 50, score chain involvement from defence etc.

You remember he missed like 8 games right?.

At the moment it's looking like only Pendles and Beams would make the 40.

Can't believe people were suggesting Langdon would make it

Beams must be lock, IMO he's having a better season now than in 2012

Elliott needs to beat Luke Breust for goals IMO to be considered, as Wingard will get one of the other forward pocket positions.
Wingard, Breust, Gray. Elliott probably misses. I love the kid, but he's not impacting games as much as the others and he's generally quiet early then gets going when the sting is out of the game.
