Possible future recruits

Since its very quite on the boards these days I decided to start a bit of a discussion in regards to the young players that we would like to see wearing Crows jumper. Please be realistic as the likes of Reiwoldt are probably out of our reach. So here is ma list:

Cameron Faulkner, Jordan McMahorn (Western Bulldogs)
Stephen Doyle (Sydney)
Alan Didak (Collingwood)
Matthew Pavlich, Byron Schammer, Aaron Sandilands (Fremantle)
Corey Enright (Geelong)
Daniel Wells (Kangaroos)
Daniel Bell, Nick Smith, Mark Jamar (Melbourne)
Chris Hall, Damian White (Port Adelaide)
Brad Ottens, Jay Schulz (Richmond)
Barry Brooks (St. Kilda)


These are a few players I think AFC should target in the near future (next couple of years). I particularly like Faulkner and since we are in a need of a ruckman I think Ottens, Doyle, Brooks and Jamar have to come under consideration.

Getting Pavlich and Ottens back to the state would be a dream come true!
My SANFL bias says I want Jamar back in the state ASAP!

Personally I would love to have Ottens, Pavlich and Faulkner wearing the Crows jumper but I doubt it is realistically possible. I think we should go for the unproved guys such as Faulkner and have Neil Craig and Darren Jarman develop them into absolute champions ala Andrew McLeod

Id be making overtures to Ottens and a key defender.
As much as Jamar is from Pirie, lets see the runs on the board before we chase him.

Key position players for sure.

As Topjars said, I would like to see how Jamar goes this year. I think we will need to get at least 2 200cm ruckman over the next 2 years so Doyle could be an option.

Definitely a ruckman and a key defender. I'd love to have Ottens but both the Crows and the Powder have tried very hard to woo Ottens with no success, and he has signed up with Richmond for some time.

Agree with your comments re Jamar. I'd rather trade for a proven ruckman.

I say this in all sincerity so please take note but i believe we should target Chad Cornes next year & if successful well why not go for Kane the year after, both boys would still jump at the chance to wear the tri colours of the Crows & just think how many years it would add on to their fathers life if they could come back to the fold,
Plus both the Cornes boys can play a bit,

I would love to see both Cornes boys play for us BUT there this LITTLE issue of both of them signing contract extensions during the off - season to keep them at bloody Alberton til 2005 or 2006.

Ottens comes out of contract in at the end of 2004 season and Pavlich at the end of 2005. So getting these 2 would be an absolute ripper. And lets not forget Cameron Faulkner the next Andrew McLeod and ladies and gentleman we have a premier.


P.S. I am still P ISSED OFF about the father son rule being brought on a few years too late because both Cornes boys would have qualified to be selected by us not the Porky Powder mob down at Assberton

I thought Glenelg were one of the SANFL clubs linked to the Power?

Well I don't believe we have a shortage of midfielders or flanker types, so we should be targeting ruckmen (for when replace Clarke when he retires & Marsh when he goes in for a heart transplant) & KPP - both forwards & defenders. ie. Ottens would be very handy as would Pavlich, but would need to give up more than we did for Carey!

That was originally to be the case but following the outcry of Glenelg officials and supporters Glenelg got linked to the Crows.

Graham Cornes played for both Glenelg and South and both are aligned to Crows

Out of all of them I probably think you are only a chance with Mark Jamar and Stephen Doyle.

Unfortunately the Cornes boys are now well and truly lost to the Crows, as far as Mark Jamar goes I'd love to see him wearing a Crows jumper but I'm not sure he has the mental toughness to play in the big league but who knows a few years in Melbourne may have toughened him up

I'd be after Ottens (a long shot ... but you don't know unless you ask), Jamar and how about Walsh from Melbourne? He's a West Adelaide boy isn't he?

They have both stated publicly several times that they want to play with the Power until the end of their respective careers.
