Possible Melbourne line-up for 2008

Please please dont discuss mark blake coming to melbourne, i live in geelong guys see alot of there games have any of u guys actually even seen this guys play? He can win a tap out but he cant do anything else and i mean anything else. He has no coordination what so ever, is possibley the worst kick at goal in the entire league. That is the danger for teams like us who need a certain type of player, we see a guy who nearly made a team that just won the premiership by a record margin and we all of a sudden think he can play, the fact is he cant he just had good players around him. I would much rather gamble on messen even though my reports are bad and hope hes a late developer. I have seen a couple of sanfl games on abc sa and he doesnt look that bad, he can mark and has fluencey in his kicking action.

Couple of suprising non admissions to our list - Paul Wheatley and Ryan Feurgoson. Its amazing how far lack of tall defenders and kicking penertration can get you at melbourne. They were both up for trade last year and no one wanted them and neither exactly set the world on fire this year to make us want to keep them. Craig Cameron should have delisted both of them even though i have a soft spot for fergilicous. (because of the injuries)

Other players who have to be treading a fine line are : Jace Bode (did a couple of nice things at the end of the season, nothing outstanding though), Simon Buckley (just dont think he will be a league footballer) Paul Johnson (Again lucky we have no ruckman even though i dont think he is, he is too slow to be a foward and not tall enough to be a ruckman)

In: Judd, Messen
Out: 1st round pick and ANYONE except for mclean or robertson.

Wheatley is the best kick in the AFL and isn't the worst defender in the world. I'd have him in Melbournes starting 18 every time.

best kick in the league?? lol did u see him kick in this year?? he had plenty of practice with how many points we let the oppostion score this year and his kick ins were still attrocious. If your the best kick in the league you hit targets from kick ins i dont care who you are, wheatley doesnt.

i can name u 5 players who kill wheatley on just melbs list let alone the league: davey, mclean, moloney, johnstone and green.

Swap Juice for Miller, and PJ for Jamar and you have my side.

As much as I'd love to see Miller turn it around and become a good CHF, as much as I can dream it, I've lost patience with him, and think we're better off persisting with young Juicy.

I dont know why everyone doesnt rate Jamar. He has an injury interrutped year and he may not do much around the ground but he is a much better option then Johnson. Our season last year was on the back of the White/Jamar duo and we saw how big of a lose Jamar was in the Semi final. I dont think johnson is up to it just yet.

Yeah Jamar is clearly the best tap ruckman on our list, well the best at tapping it to the opposition anyway, PJ for mine any day.

If your being sarcastic then I'd wait until next year when that team is up and firing, if your being serious then I agree, with Miller out of that team we could beat Geelong, if they have some injuries and we play a decent brand of football.

There are a lot of if's in that scenario. Realistically, any team can beat anyone on the right day. However, if Melbourne and Geelong are both at full strength, we would lose 8/10 times. Geelong is an awesome team.

Nah not yet. Even though Carroll isn't the most reliable player, he is the most suitable option we have at the moment.

My preferred backline:

Whelan - Carroll - Frawley
Bell - Rivers - Wheatley

Not a fan of Bartram, even after his brilliant debut season? I'd have him in ahead of Wheatley

definately have the young guns of the team in there the likes of frawley bate petterd years to come it will be an awsome team. after speakin to frawley the other day he said he was pritty keen to have the boots on more often next year.

We are too quick sometimes to stick all the kids in the team. It won't happen. We don't exactly know how Bailey is going to line us up for season 08 but you would think that guys like Yze will play from Round 1 (barring injury). Playing the kids is very tempting but it just won't happen with a fit list.

Players like Buckley, Bode, Bartram and Petterd shouldn't be played simply because they are kids, I agree.

Frawley has to play as he has to be groomed and I'd expect about 2 of the 4 I mentioned firstly to get a gig too. They'd probably be Petterd and Bartram. Barts has to take over the #1 tagging role while Petterd is something special I feel.

My Best 22 & Positions.
