Geelong trading 14 and 17 for 8 would be more likely.

Pure_Ownage & year of the cat pretty much covered everything.2 & 15 for 3 & 8.
Explain to me why that is “laugh in face” worthy? Suns shift down one pick (2 to 3) but jump up seven picks (15 to 8). On pure draft points the Suns are ahead in that trade.
You are severely underestimating the retention help of them taking 2 best mates imo.

I kind of agree, if GCS had pick 1 and 3, I would pick Anderson at 1 and bid green at 3 if Melbourne take Rowell. Swallow and Florini is like a mini version of Oliver and Brayshaw. Ainsworth, Rankine same height as Rowell can spend some time in midfield too. They’ll retain players when they win football games. The best mates thing is overblown.
Or this is being over rated...You are severely underestimating the retention help of them taking 2 best mates imo.

If the best friend thing is so important, surely the twin brother thing is even more importantNot for GC it isn't. They would have sold this to Ben King too no doubt. You take the two best kids and be done with it. The gap between those two and the next lot is a fair bit.

Clubs are defined by the closeness of their playing group and loyalty to each other. Getting best friends in is a great start. Better than brothers, who often want to get out of the shadow of each other. If the best friend thing is so important, surely the twin brother thing is even more important
Swap with Richmond for 2 picks around 38 ~ 40.I don't think port need 29. We just need to keep some spots open to use our late picks for matching mead. We might want to upgrade 12 or 18? More likely a future second. Any clubs after pick 29?

Gives you at least 200 extra points.
Suns could prob get green if they wanted. Just nominate him pick 1... would prob cost gws every pick next 2 years to matchThey can do that next year when they have a top 3 pick plus pick 11, plus an early enough second. They are taking the best two talents in the draft and it literally is by a mile too. The gap between the top 2 and the others from 4-15 is huge (I'll put Green as 3rd but he's unavailable anyway)

Was mentioned a few times by Pies recruiter that we're looking for a 1st round pick from this year's draft. Can't think of any way of getting 1 at this stage except to trade our 1st next year.
Perhaps we could do 2020 1st for pick 15 from GC?
They evidently only one top end talent given they're targeting top 10 picks. Our 1st next year probably gives them more to work with to get a higher pick in this year's draft or next year's draft given the versatility for any club wanting a pick next year and the potential of us falling further down the ladder.
Well part of the reasons you mentioned why GC shouldn't do the deal exist for a reason, there needs to be something in it for us too...Why would GC trade pick 15 this year for a WORSE pick in a compromised draft next year? That literally makes no sense from GC's standpoint. It's likely your first next year is pick 15 and that doesn't include the 10+ highly rated Academy, Father Son and NGA selections next year.
You'd need to add a lot more than your future first, which would be closer to pick 23-26 next year.
Why?. Won't sydney get a player they want at 5. Stupid to cough up pick 32 which could still net a good player for no huge gainSyd 5+32 > Melb 3
Melb 5+8+32
Syd 3+25+40
If Melb want, they can then do 8 for Geelongs 14 and 17
Giving them
5+14+17+32
So Dees can easily turn 5+8 into
5=14=17=32 if they so choose with their draft preferences.
Tom Greene more than happy to be drafted by Sydney across town. GWS can work for him if they want him.
Big difference between having the first live pick that can be used for Greene, and pick 5.Why?. Won't sydney get a player they want at 5. Stupid to cough up pick 32 which could still net a good player for no huge gain
Syd 5+32 > Melb 3
Melb 5+8+32
Syd 3+25+44
If Melb want, they can then do 8 for Geelongs 14 and 24
So Dees can easily turn 3+8into 5+14+24+32 if they so choose with their draft preferences. Just another option for them.

Geel 8+17+36
I'd guess Geelong only too happy to pay overs for a top 10. Use some of that overs they got for Kelly.
Same with Sydney paying overs for the pick 3
Dees turn 2 picks into 2x1sts and 2x2nds, and retain a top 5
I thought exactly the same thing, unless he was thinking by getting pick 3, Sydney could then hold GWS to ransom by threatening to bid on Green at 3..but if so, why wouldn't Melbourne save themselves the trouble of trading with Sydney and just use the same tactic against GWS themselves? We have moved up for zero reason. GWS will just match the bid- and we've given a decent second rounder away...
