Dunno why melb would give up so much for 8 (is no huge reason so see them turning around there form and bolting to top 4)
To then ontrade it for 2 late firsts

I've read a few people say that but i'm not sure i agree, We didn't move up to get a specific player just wanted to hit this draft hard. So in there mind they may have a few players in mind that they like that they can get in mid to late 1st rounders.

No-one thought we’d make a prelim in 2018, either. No reason why we can’t bounce back into the 8 in 2020.

And as previous poster says, we are looking to load up with talent in this draft given next year’s will be more compromised.

Fair if you guys think that.

Reason I fail to see melb moving up is the non existent fwd line (rate your mids def well)

Downgrade 19 to 27 to upgrade 75 to 47
It’s about the same

75 and 47 are about the same pick. 75 will push up to early 60s one clubs starting passing. There's a pretty good chance you could get the same player as no clubs have similar rankings that late.

Agree with you on our forward set up. Was hoping we’d recruit Jenkins from you guys. For all his flaws he does provide a threat.

No chance , Happy with 19,38,39,41,56
will probably trade 2 for a pick that will get a better 2nd rounder 39+41 to freo for #22 would be what we would want
Of course you'd want that because you make out like Bandits.

Throw in 38 & we can give you 58 back. We're also not trading till draft night in case the Henry bid comes early and we're splitting 10.

Melbourne is considering three possibilities for its pick 8.

Geelong - 14 & 17
Freo - 10 & 22
Port - 12 & 18

Most likely is Freo, then Port then Geelong.

Very unlikely at this stage the Cats 14 & 24 gets them into the top 10.
Except that deal is not good for us. Much too high of a price and we'd be going into debt next year for Henry.

We wont trade 14 and 17 without something coming back (we would for a top 5 pick but not 8) which you dont have theres no value for us in that.

I think we will move 14 and 24 for 9 tbh.

I think it may be something along the lines of 9 and 43 for/ 14 and 24.

Agree id probably do that even without 43. If you want Cooper Stephens you have to generate a 20s pick as 9 is too early and 43 too late.

Sometimes you’ve just got to accept what you’re given. You’re Freo, we are Melbourne the oldest and best football club in Australia.

Too high a price for a 2-4 pick upgrade. Need something to be coming back. Unless a club is jizzing at who slides to 8 of course.

Fair enough.
But do you think giving up equivalent of #46 is being 'bent over'?

This is where the whole points system falls apart. The points are irrelevant as we aren't dealing in them. I'm looking at it on face value. 14 and 17 for 9 and 43 - a 5 pick upgrade with a 26 pick downgrade. Just not a deal I'd want us to consider.

I actually think the points are a good guide (guide only of course, not an absolute) in these situations.

And you give up more for picks in the first round, and more especially the top 10. Giants just gave up a first rounder to move 2 spots.

The Giants are the team you want to be trading with at the moment. They have so much collateral to deal with they can afford to pay overs.

Got to remember that this deal also suits you guys who get your small forward plus prob C.Stephens. And you owe us from the Lachie Henderson trade ;-)

That’s it pretty much. Is there someone there at 8 who you guys reckon is worth it. Not sure we have a whole lot to give back as a makeweight. I think we’ve got a 2020 second rounder from Hawthorn (received for Sam Frost). That could come into play.
