MRP / Trib. Possible suspensions

I'm not being negative but just throwing it out there for your thoughts. If the MRP panel do what they normally do to freo and give them 2 each, could we cover Dawson and Mayne in a GF ?

from memory doorson has got carryovers from our last trip to geelong, i dont think he will be available to play vs swans/blues

mayne should be ok, maybe a reprimand

watch, the final stoppages of the game and selwood stomps on barlow or crowleys hands, very deliberate and he will get weeks if sighted.

Zac no worries there I think, Selwood incident no other realistic way to contest the football plus no injury to Selwood. Mayne was intentional, body contact, medium or low impact would be the big question. Either way with no carryover points or priors (that I can recall) he should be 1 down to a reprimand.

I can't remember Mayne getting in trouble before, so if he gets the same as Johnson did when he hit Ballas in the preseason (below) then I imagine he will be right to play, assuming he pleads guilty. Mayne is one of the fairest players on our list so I don't doubt that there was much more too it.

"The incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point), drawing 125 points and a one-match ban"

If Dawson goes does that mean that if you get hit high in a marking contest or similar then you should also get suspended. Sandy had his face caved in and it wasn't raised, why should Dawson be cited, it wasn't a bump it was an attempted spoil on the footy.

Anyway we all know logic has the same aversion to the MRP as it does to Bigfooty debates.

MRP love it when freo players get reported. They get to screw us over yet again. Pretty sure Mayne has a good record, so that should work in his advantage with an early guilty plea. Hopefully at worst, it's just points.

I will watch the replay later today, there was a moment when we get the ball and run forward on the nearside wing and just at the top of screen at the 50m arc you see Crowley standing over a geelong player hunched on the ground. I do not think this is SJ after the Mayne glance to his stomach have a feeling it was earlier and was Selwood but there is no other vision of it. Will have to check.

I think we can cover Dawson for a week certainly with MJ and Silvagni. Mayne is much harder to cover and we would need him for the GF if we beat Sydney. Crozier, Mellington or even Simpson would be the options but hopefully only for the prelim.

Edit: Yeh 1st quarter score was 3 pts to Freo 0, the rebound by Geelong following the mark by Fyfe but no vision of what happened.

Gee, they seem to be talking up a suspension for the attempted smother by Dawson. It just looked like he tried to block the handball and Selwood leaned into him looking for a free kick. Was what he did in any way unreasonable? What other action would have been considered reasonable? Not try and block the handball?

Mayne - Level 2 Striking offence, low impact, body contact, 125 points, 25% discount due to 5 year good record (?), 25% early plee, reprimand and 62.5 carry over points

Dawson - Did not strike Podsiadly in first instance, fine $1500 for melee
2nd incident - lucky dip, anything from thrown out to 3 weeks.

I think Mayne will get a reprimand due to his good record. Dawson nothing.

Worse case scenario is we miss them both for the prelim. No way either will miss the GF for those, the AFL hates people missing the GF for anything as it takes the focus of the game and onto the MRP bullshit.

I will be interested if any Geelong player gets sighted. I thought I recalled seeing Mayne copping one during a ball up. I haven't watched the replay though so I may have been imagining it.

Mayne was felled, Stevie J was obviously the culprit and if they don't look at that, then it's a joke.

Mayne copped a hit in the guts by Enright, SJ wasn't involved with the incident.

Bear in mind that the MRP do not review matches. They only review a list of incidents referred to them by the AFL ops manager.

Cheers, I thought that SJ didn't do it. Probably gave him shit afterwards though so Mayne probably blamed the wrong bloke.

I haven't heard any news about Enright's knee. Didn't look flash though so I doubt he will play next week anyway even if cited. Probably get off the same as Mayne.

Seven Perth news just replayed all the Dawson and Mayne incidents, neglected to mention anything about Freo players going down off the ball. Assholes.

Not official by any means but looking OK.
Reported: Zac Dawson (Fre) striking James Podisadly (Geel). No charge, no contact.
Zac Dawson (Fre) striking James Podisadly (Geel). Intentional, low impact, body contact. No charge, insufficient impact.

I think Dawson will get a 1 week suspension and we will accept it. He is an important player, key position. However we are capable of winning without him.

I think Mayne is more likely to be suspended than Dawson. I don't think Dawson has a case to answer in either incident.

Mayne is two games short of having a five year good record. Bloody hell

He is the one that is likely going to get done. Hopefully just a week reduced to a reprimand with a guilty plea. Although in a just world all incidents would be thrown out.

There appeared to be players going down all over the field for both teams, so I expect the match review panel to have a look at it.

Dawson two incident should be fine. The first one he missed, the second one he was trying to smother the ball.

Mayne if reported, should get away with 80-90 carry over points. I think he will be fine.

Any other incidents? What are people thoughts?
HUGE acting job by Stevie J..disgusting! he went from being in the foetal position to running around like a mad man seconds later. Mayne wasn't on all 4's in pain, just moments before that, for nothing.

Maybe maybe, but given the weakness of the shot it shows how weak Stevie J is if anything.

One of my girlfriends commented that if I ever went down with a shot like that she'd leave me.... that's not a "man" she said.
was there, saw it....100% agree!!!

Dawson's first free kick/report whatever it was.. Is an absolute sham on the game. Where was it and why? J Pod started it, acted like a baby and dived. From that point on the umpires just kept blowing the whistle in stupid decisions as if instructed to.

Mayne was felled, Stevie J was obviously the culprit and if they don't look at that, then it's a joke. Mayne would not have done what he did had he not been pushed. Stevie J's reaction and then running up to Mayne reeked of arrogant and pigheadedness. Hopefully Chris had his hand open instead of close as it is not sufficient force.

But the MRP always go out after these things so wouldnt be surprised if given to Mayne and something for Dawson on the 2nd hit.
exactly...just before that, Mayne had obviously been felled by someone..and am assuming it was that sooky piece of lard who was acting for free kicks all day
