MRP / Trib. Possible suspensions

Mayne is two games short of having a five year good record. Bloody hell

He is the one that is likely going to get done. Hopefully just a week reduced to a reprimand with a guilty plea. Although in a just world all incidents would be thrown out.

Damn, for some reason I thought he was already on the 5 years. Either way, unless they go for rough conduct which would be bloody harsh, if they go with striking he should be OK (with early plea).

As I said above, Dawson should get off, but there is lots of room for a particularly idiotic interpretation to be made on any of those incidents and he could still cop a week or so = but we'd have to be pretty unlucky for that to happen.

Interesting to see if any others come up including Geelong players. There were clearly a number of players taken out through the day on both sides and they have behind the goal cameras going all day that often pick them up.

Afl.com seems to think Dawson only has something to worry about with the Selwood incident. I say take punishment unless over 1 week but tbh if he gets anything for we're in trouble as a sport in general

We have great cover in Silva. Hope Sutciffe stays in for Jonno..did a great back pocket job.

Johnson apparently reported mentioned on sen.. Standby for cats board meltdown.

I remember seeing Mayne on the ground, I have a feeling he was just getting pay back.

If Dawson gets reported he is gone for one week due to already having 60 point from a previous incident.

btw this following incident is more similar to the incidents you probably think are similar but are not similar:

From MRP
Contact between North Melbourne’s Luke Delaney and Essendon’s Heath Hocking from the second quarter of Saturday’s game was assessed. Hocking was towards goal with the ball and has a shot at goal as Delaney jumps in the air, in an attempt to smother the kick. It was the view of the panel that Delaney’s attempt to smother the ball was a realistic attempt to stop a goal and the high contact that was made was deemed to be accidental. No further action was taken.

That doesn't mean Dawson will get off, but he hit the head = certain suspension is not the way it goes

Based on this Dawson should be fine

It was Enright who punched Mayne in the stomach. Was actually a swinging round arm, as opposed to those little love taps which seem to get scrutiny. Been watching the replay over here for the last few hours, they showed it very briefly (with no commentary about it) right around the time Barlow kicked his second goal.

I would love to see someone mention this incident as well as the Mayne one. It is looks like the media is targeting us, perhaps not happy with RTB press conference.

If we can just get over this hurdle today we can breathe easy for a while. Just think the MRP will find at least one Dockers scape goat.

If any of our players get suspended, then Enright should as well. Love him as a player, and he is very much a fair player ... but he still punched Mayne in the stomach harder than any of the things our players did.

Did anyone find it strange that the umpire was asking with genuine concern if Pods was OK, after that free against Dawson in the goalsquare in the 2nd quarter? I thought it was out of line and unnecessary communication, and showed how the umpire's head was on the side of looking out for Geelong. Pretty sure it was that #28, who was doing his best to hand the game to the Cats.

Someone gave Suban a pretty bad blow to the jaw as well, but not sure who?

I would take this.

MATCH REVIEW PANEL - FINALS WEEK ONE

Reported: Zac Dawson (Fre) striking James Podisadly (Geel). No charge, no contact.
Zac Dawson (Fre) striking James Podisadly (Geel). Intentional, low impact, body contact. No charge, insufficient impact.
Zac Dawson (Fre) rough conduct to Joel Selwood (Geel). No charge, legitimate attempt to smother.
Chris Mayne (Fre) striking Steve Johnson (Geel). Intentional, low impact, body contact. 125 points (1 match); 93.75 with guilty plea (reprimand)

Dawson's first free kick/report whatever it was.. Is an absolute sham on the game. Where was it and why? J Pod started it, acted like a baby and dived. From that point on the umpires just kept blowing the whistle in stupid decisions as if instructed to.

Mayne was felled, Stevie J was obviously the culprit and if they don't look at that, then it's a joke. Mayne would not have done what he did had he not been pushed. Stevie J's reaction and then running up to Mayne reeked of arrogant and pigheadedness. Hopefully Chris had his hand open instead of close as it is not sufficient force.

But the MRP always go out after these things so wouldnt be surprised if given to Mayne and something for Dawson on the 2nd hit.

AFL IS CORRUPT AT THE CORE! in the VFL admin at least.. love the game!
