MRP / Trib. Possible suspensions

Good ...result but it could have been better if Enright and Mayne's little tummy touches were treated as they should be worth nothing more than a free kick and then play on. Little stuff like that shouldn't be worth the MRP's attention

Common sense prevails...almost. Mayne should've been cleared, MRP fooled by Johnson's Oscar nominated performance.

Glad to see Dawson cleared, did absolutely nothing wrong.

Funny, from the way Stevie J was acting on the weekend I thought he was running the MRP. He was obviously offering Mayney 3 weeks, 2 with an early plea.

What a snapperhead.
Yep. Clearly said to Mayne "That was worth 2-3 weeks, you've just cost yourself a grand final."

Suck on it you filthy animal.

In fairness to Steve J he could have meant just one week with all his gesturing, do you really think he has the mental capacity needed to count to three?

You should be able to balance out suspensions in finals. Weeks to either team can be cancelled out between each other if things get out of control. Freo - 4 weeks - Geelong 4 weeks = no one misses out. Mayne & Enright walk with nothing. It prevents the violence being one sided but allows for the heat of the moment stuff and retaliation.

Of course, the new system needs to be implemented in the GF earliest to allow for the Geelong v Hawks Prelim in two weeks. :thumbsu:

Common sense came up trumps. Accept the sanctions and move on. Understandable for Mayne if he wants to clear his record as he isn't, DEFINITELY, not that type of player. But can't be fighting against the unpredictable tribunal before a prelim, who knows what they would do if given the chance.

Good to see common sense prevail. Had to listen to my Geelong mate crying since Saturday night that half of Freo's team should be suspended.

They have form in this area, I remember being gobsmacked last year at the amount of Geelong fans adamant Whitecross should have been given weeks for this incident.

If we try and challenge that then Mayne will get a week without question and we will deserve it for stupidity. The force was low anyway so we'll be pushing shit uphill to get it reduced further, especially with Stevie J rolling around on the grass in agony for 5 minutes.

For the head butt on Selwood?

Surely we just accept that for Mayne

Of course we will, we would be absolutely stupid to not take it. Just tell Mayne not to be stupid for 1 game and then it doesn't really matter if he misses 1 week next year.

The points stay on his record for 2 years?

I love the wording from the AFL.

"It was the view of the panel that Dawson used an open hand in his action and that the contact was below that required to constitute a reportable offence."

They don't want to say that he didn't connect as this would point out the mistake the umpired made paying the free kick.

Umpire must have double checked to bring his whistle to the game. That he left his OPSM specs at home.

Can't stand this dickhead... every time I see him I think of this:

Happy camper. Considering how little time the "incidents" were given it makes the media look even sillier.

"You're quite brilliant Shane......terrific"

On this one:

Contact between Fremantle's Zac Dawson and Geelong's Matthew Stokes from the first quarter of Saturday's match was assessed. After viewing all available footage, receiving a medical report from Geelong's Football Club and interviewing player Stokes in an investigation, it could not be determined conclusively that a reportable offence had occurred. No further action was taken.

Just so we don't become too much like Geelong and cry foul at everything that doesn't worship us as gods, I suspect Stokes may have helped us out here by keeping the old fashion players code. Not suggesting that Zac should have got done either, not at all, but if it remained 'undetermined' then there's a reasonable chance Stokes didn't fill in too many blanks for the MRP.

So credit to him if this is true. :thumbsu:

At least someone at their club is still worth respecting.

Imagine if it was boomer, Zac wouldn't be playing for another year.
