MRP / Trib. Possible suspensions

I actually thought diving and "simulation" was a reportable offense?

Our next game is likely against the Swans so they'll probably rub both players out.

The Swans are lacking run, on Subiaco I see this as a big disadvantage for them assuming Jetta and Rohan do not find any form. They are really missing Shaw and Mattner running out of the back line.

I think the SCG hides this, a bit like Ethiad flattered the Saints at times.

Someone gave Suban a pretty bad blow to the jaw as well, but not sure who?

If it's the incident I'm thinking of, it was Duckwood. A very 'firm' jumper punch lets call it. If they weren't scragging and jumper pulling each other, if it was a clear punch done with the same force in the open it would almost certainly have picked up a charge I reckon, but in the heat of that situation, it wont get a look at I think.

If any of our players get suspended, then Enright should as well. Love him as a player, and he is very much a fair player ... but he still punched Mayne in the stomach harder than any of the things our players did.

Did anyone find it strange that the umpire was asking with genuine concern if Pods was OK, after that free against Dawson in the goalsquare in the 2nd quarter? I thought it was out of line and unnecessary communication, and showed how the umpire's head was on the side of looking out for Geelong. Pretty sure it was that #28, who was doing his best to hand the game to the Cats.

Absolute prize *anker. Was so looking out for the cats

That was one of Selwood's many indiscretions for the game. He made quite an impression on Saturday and did himself no favours.

Not worth looking at though. Should have been a couple of free kicks and leave it at that

It's funny how the ex-Geelong players are coming out and crying foul over the incidents.
Seriously? Geelong dish out this every week thinking they are above everyone else but when Freo stood up to them and didn't accept their BS (like Selwood pathetic jumper punch.. Johnson's sooky-lala), it's an outcry. Sick of the victorian media and this is why there's a nasty rivalry building between the two teams..

There was one earlier also, from 32(stokes/christian) from geelong, Happened 2 feet in front of umpire 28 who minutes earlier had seen Zac punch pods from 20 meters away.

What about the jumper punch that hit the face from Duckwood to Suban right in front of the umpire - no call.

Back before their premiership against WCE Barry Hall did a very similiar gut punch to Mayne's. He was cleared and had a feral track record and no motivation for doing it. Mayne should be sweet.

Dawson will go for his accidental on Selwood. Protection of the noggin overides intent. They will probably look at two but it could be fought back to one depending on carry overs me tinks.

The MRP will reach into the hat and pull out the verdict.

It might be nothing, it might be 2 weeks. The MRP is a chook lotto.

To who?? Mayne wasn't even playing AFL then.

If it's the one I think you're referring to, it's the 2005 Prelim, vs Saints and he hit Maguire - I was there that day, saw it clear as day, it happened right under my nose. That was one of the "straws that broke the camel's back" in terms of introducing the current system today with points etc. It was dumbfounding that he got off, and the only reason people could come up with was leniency because of the finals. After that the points system that we basically have now was introduced to help avoid such at thing.

With that in mind, tn the old days we may have got off under the same logic, but these days, with the points system, there is far less chance, especially for Mayne's incident. He'll get some sort of penalty, it's just a matter of whether it will be enough to miss games or not.

pretty sure the current system was in place then. thought hall got off by arguing that it was technically in play reducing the charge as he was expecting to be involved in the next piece of play.
