EMERG: Anthony Corrie, Joel MacDonald, Aaron Shattock

IN: Chris Scott, Shaun Hart

Hard on Corrie and MacDonald, but they will have to make way with those 2 players to come back. Hard on Pratt last week aswell.

Based on Hadley's performance last week, he needs to start on the ground this week. I'd have him run with Hird. Ideal matchup.

Brennan is on his last chance in the team IMO. If he doens't do something this week, he should be dropped. He is a chance to be dropped this week I would think.

Would line up the same minus the interchange bench..

Corrie for Scott.. Give Chris another run in the 2's for safety sake if not simply to give Corrie another week against the coach that's all too well known for playing youngsters in this way. His disposal under pressure has been mostly good and the quality of his passing by foot would make him a valuable avenue to goal that could well get under the bombers guard.

Pratt for Brennan.. Jared's shown some flair and creative knack but as an athletic kpp type he just hasn't got the body yet to take it to his opponents and you can see it in the way he's playing. He's genuinely worried about getting poleaxed. Give him some time to get his confidence up in the 2's and get the lad onto a weights bench. Pratt already has the muscle and plays like Browny coached him.. all courage. For the kind of game the bombers try to bring against us he'd be more valuable

B: Johnson Michael White
HB: Copeland Bradshaw B.Scott
C: Akermanis Black Lappin
HF: Pike Brown Hart
F: McGrath Leppitsch Power
FOLL: Charman Voss Hadley
INT: McLaren Brennan Notting MacDonald
EMG: Corrie C.Scott Shattock

IN: Hart
OUT: Corrie

I'd give Chris Scott another week in the seconds, to get the form right. Corrie is very unlucky to be dropped.

Key Match Ups

Copeland - Hird....Bushy has the endurance and overhead strength to go with Hird. Should have some confidence at the moment.

Hadley - J.Johnson...has the hardness and endurance to run with Johnson and hurt him on the rebound.

Michael - Lloyd...needs the midfield to not allow the ball to be delivered on a platter.

Brown - Lucas...JB has a point to prove against Lucas after last year's game.

Leppitsch - Fletcher...if Leppa gets beaten early then he should make long leads and let Brown drop back into the square on Lucas.

lucas may not play on brown, he's just as likely to lineup at CHF
key matchups: lloyd on michael
lucas on bradshaw/Leppistch at CHF or on brown at CHB
whoever is on brown needs to be strong, so if it were me i'd play Henneman on him and let Lucas worry your defenders at CHF with the form he showed against the pathetic hawks

IN: Jeff Fenech (for the punch up), Hulk Hogan (for the sleeper hold)

In case they can't tell the difference between last week and this week

I'd think you'd want Mundine... at least he'll also give some run. Hogan is too slow, I'd prefer The Rock, he'll lay the Smackdown on Essendon ;) :p

Here's hoping that the Bombers have a few suspended players after the biff up from last weekend. :p
I think Murphy will get one week, and Ben Haynes, Stanton or Bullen will come in to replace him

the rest of the charges are just engaging in a melee which should be a fine.

stanton a BIG suprise, playing an 18 year old first year player in the biggest game so far this season? mind you there has been a late change every round this year for the bombers, and he could be it this time: stanton out for Cupido/Alvey or Richards. also doubt that bolton will play at CHB on Brown, more likely to be Lucas or Henneman.

Ours won't be named for about another hour. Well it probably is, but it doesn't get onto the site until about quarter to 7.

I'm surprised Cupido isn't in your team.

Unlike Leigh, Sheedy has the courage of his conviction to put trust in young promising players and play them in pressure cooker games. Mathews has never expressed confidence in any young players in important games ahead of experience.

Maybe that's why we've won three flags and Essendon have been the great underachievers?

I think we're all a bit surprised that Stanton came in and Alvey was left out. Bullen had quite a good game in the VFL, so you would have expected him to get a gig ahead of Stanton. Also, given the loss of Murphy, you'd think we'd keep Alvey in as he plays a similar game to Murphy.

Cupes isn't fit and is playing rather selfishly at the moment, so he probably won't get a senior gig until he is prepared to win his own ball and be more accountable.

Wellman may be a late omission, apparently had some shoulder/arm problems. If we want to go like for like, then Richards will come in, otherwise... Probably Alvey, but I wouldn't rule out Cupes entirely.

Looking forward to your side.

Yep.

So does that mean we'll never see him again in the Essendon side? 'Cause you'll be waiting a lifetime before Cupes goes and gets his own ball.

....
wouldnt hadley in the grand final with only 4 games experience be classed as that?
Maybe I should have phrased that as "Mathews expresses greater confidence in experienced, more mature players ahead of young inexperienced players"
However. Please do not take that statement out of context as my second paragraph clearly vindicates me and Mathews' philosophy.
Also, I am pleased this week by the selection of Macdonald and Corrie for this very important game Vs Essendon.
