Whitnall Traded... Youve gotta be joking! You would want a top three pick for him and no ones going to give it especially since we have one of them!

Who will be our Captain next year???

From a very good source I have heard Wiggins will be used as trade bait next year. To whom and who for is unknown at the moment, but will keep everyone posted when I hear more!
Who would want Wiggins after just one solid year?

I'd rather keep him and it's an indictment on Carlton if they trade someone like Wiggins ahead of Whitnall who'd get us better picks.

It would be better for Carlton to keep them both. You need Whitnall to take forward steps, and the return on wiggins wouldn't be worth it.

But I do know that Carlton is thinking of fishing him around and seeing who takes a snap at him. Pity, I would rather him stay at Carlton. Hopefully they do sign him on instead of trading him.

It would have been better to get one of Birchall, Jones, Higgins or Hurn for Whitnall and his present form is only average for someone who gets labelled a star.

At least two Carlton fans have noted that he's put on more weight and he doesn't have any athleticism to fall back on like genuine KPP do. Some Hawthorn fans are labelling Thomas Murphy as a player with a future and Lance should have beaten an inexperienced player outright.

it's a rumour so it's obviously true

No but it is a rumour that would explain why he has been in and out of Port's team...

Ill ask again, if we trade Whitnall who will be the Captain next year???
Stevens??? Dont think so!

That's easy! Fev will be but I highly doubt Whitnall is going anywhere!

Cant have someone who drops his head leading young Kids... Maybe later!

Pagan has been pretty impressed with Fev next year, so it wouldn't surprise me to see him get the nod ahead of Red as the next captain.

As for Lance, I can see why Cypher and SurreyBlue are saying he could or should be traded at years end. He's in career best form and his currency would have gone up considerably this year, but we need a CHB that has some athletisism and sadly, Lance does not have that.

How about Luke Brennan for a 3rd or 4th rounder?

Would be surprised if Luke Brennan would be wanted by anyone else. Has had his chance and the only thing to come out of it was his singing on Footy Show Screamers last year.

Would like him to get a second chance, but doubt it.

On SEN this morning (Fri) Andrew Maher said a well known player for a certain club had put on 5 - 6 Kg bodyweight since the middle of the season. Up until the middle of the season he was starring, but because of this weight he has put on, his form has fallen away. When pressed by the others, Watson & Brownless, to name the player, Maher declined. Andy Maher is a staunch Carlton supporter, and I believe he was referring to Lance Whitnall. I believe it is Whitnall because his form IMO, has actually fallen away since this time. Some commentaters have suggested he should be named All Australian CHB, I would agree up until midyear, but his form has fallen away. Should we use Lance as trade bait, we might still get a reasonable trade for him?

Could be Whitnall, but have you seen the size of Stevens lately??? I think Stevens has filled out a bit.

Could also be Luke Hodge.

This thread may have been already done but other club boards are discussing trades so I thought why not bring it up!
Some names mentioned so far and my thoughts on trading for them:
Michael Gardiner ( would consider possibly PSD draft or 3rd rnd pick)
Jason Akermanis ( stated he would not play for Blues and feeling is mutual)
Nick Davis ( cant see him returning to Melbourne but would consider him if available for maybe a 2nd rounder and fringe player)
Graham Polak ( baggage or not we NEED defenders, would offer 2nd pick(19) providing we still get priority pick at 17)
Paul Medhurst ( possibly interested if he came cheaply)
James Kelly ( would be very keen maybe for Houlihan and late pick)
Chris Tarrant ( not needed with Fev, Kennedy, Waite, Fisher already establishing our future forward line)
Peter Everitt ( too old would not touch would prefer Gardiner)
Darren Gaspar ( see Peter Everitt )

1. Michael Gardiner - only 27 and could definitely help out Frenchy.
2. Jason Akermanis - would not mind and would love a player of his skills and football at the club but his big mouth is a worry, plus he's a bit too old. Ten years younger, maybe.
3. Nick Davis - would be a great addition to our side but Eddie (Betts) and him would be fighting for the forward pocket spot in our side unless one of them establishes a spot in the midfield. At 25, has at least a good 5 or so years left in him. Him and Fev in the F50 would be grouse.
4. Graham Polak - A genuine possibility. Still young and if SOS gets a coaching job down here he can guide him and teach him how to play down back, etc. Would take alot of pressure off Whit and T-Bird.
5. Paul Medhurst - Very talented forward with good potencial to become a great player but he needs to get fitter and bulk up a bit and become more disciplined. It's a toss out of him and Davis, cannot get both.
6. James Kelly - Surprised that his name has been brought up in this thread but if he is there come the business end of the season then we'd be mad not to look at him. Would take Houla's spot on the wing if Houla went or Houla may need to play a defensive or forward sweeping role. Would be great.
7. Chris Tarrant - Forget it. Not up to scratch. Big No.
8. Peter Everitt - Like Aker, is too old but it would be great to have somebody like him as our ruckman....if he was ten years younger.
9. Darren Gaspar - He's too old, especially for a developing team rebuilding like Carlton. Plus, he's never been the same since that knee injury.

Any others?????

Pick 18 for Meeson - developing ruckman, Luenberger will be gone.

you obviously have NFI.

Adelaide picked him up at pick 8 and have spent 2 years developing him.

Apart from Fev and maybe N.Stevens i dont think the crows would be interested in anyone else on your list for him.

Im not getting personal just stating the facts!

Lance Whitnall has not put on 5-6 kg since the mid-season. It is definitely Rocca that is the guilty party. As for using Lance as trade bait, how does no sound? You want to trade away our next captain, who with Kouta and Lappin (should he be there next season) will be the only 200 game players on the list. You do not trade true Carlton people. Do you want to trade Jarred Waite? How about Sam Sheldon, instead of taking him with a F/S pick? How about some reality kick in here and we forget this crazy idea that we must trade for extra draft picks or recycled players. We will be adding 3-4 quality youngsters to our list next year, plus what we are already developing at the club, but these kids are going to need guidance. Whitnall, Fevola, Scotland etc are going to be those that work at taking these youngsters to the next step.

So what if he was pick 8!

You have no idea about the depth of this draft (this isn't the 2004 draft!) and how trades work if you think you're going to get a similar pick for him. He hasn't even played a game of AFL and you'd laugh at us if we demanded one of your best players or pick nine for Russell who has at least played AFL.

I think it's Whitnall because this has been posted by at least two Carlton supporters on our unofficial websites. He should be used as trade bait because our kids have stood up with little senior leadership this year and his weight is a worrying sign for the future with his history of knee problems. :(

But we stuffed up badly in the PSD and trades last year alround and kept him instead of getting another quality kid.
