You'd be surprised what actual midfielder ability Wayne's-World is prepared to sacrifice in order to get his 1.2 contested grabs per game. Literally nothing else matters at all. No contested marks, no deal.
That's certainly on the wish list because our midfield simply does not take contested marks due to the midfield mix ......but it's not the only consideration

Pace is not the issue it was at the start of last season, and we've drafted / traded for link players .....we need an inside bull, ideally with contested marking skills .....an equivalent or better Josh Caddy type

wayne I don't think a line breaker is a problem as a player

Think about it - how could that be a negative
It's not a negative ......but haven't we got Milera, Menzel, Cameron, Seedsman, Smith, ect ........3 of those players we didn't have last season

So when analyzing the mix of our midfield .....lets say a SWOT analysis, what's our greatest need NOT want .....we all want any good player, but is that type our need & does that player cover a weakness

We have / will have lost some real inside grunt & our midfield needs to have flexibility to rest forward and take marks (Dangerfield / Ruccuito) ......a Neale type didn't satisfy a need as we have players we can develop for that role ......he was simply a want

Problem is that player is immediately in our vision, so we take whoever is ......nah

If a player of Prestia's calibre is available and is willing to come to your club, you give up what you've got to give up to make the trade happen.

Kid racked up 13 Brownlow votes as a 21 year old in a crap side.
Is there the slightest chance that anyone on this board want;s to chase a player over 175cm ???????

10
Dion Prestia
Height
175 cm

An inside / outside mid is better than just being another inside guy with the balance we have

Ok he's not on the tall side , but a good player is a good player

Are we missing a mid that can go forward and take marks - on paper yes but given how the forward line is functioning I'd say no ( especially with emergence of McGovern)

We just need good quality midfield depth and Prestia and Neale both satisfy that

If not them then someone else

Rumours that Neale leaked in an interview his intent to stay.

Just like danger

Who knows what's going on until he signs
Towards the end, I don't think he campaigner ever said that tbh.

I knew he was going for a long time back in early Jan and February, the warning signs was clearly there. Personally the way Walsh acted and responded to questions, I felt he knew deep down. Again credit to him for putting up with side show circus act that Danger created, Walsh handled it well.. .... RIP:(:'(

I always felt the players made it their mission that might to win the final for Walsh.

And I think that included danger

He's opposition now so I have no loyalty to
him but wouldn't boo him at a game like I did Tippett the other week or even Gunston

Prestia is a quality player. Do we need quality players in our midfield? Yes. The debate about his height is just dumb.
When you have 188- 190cm wings and half backs as well as 192cm 4th tall forwards I don't think it's an issue

It's not like each zone of the ground is separated

Exactly and Prestia when fit is a quality quality player. If he was in our midfield he would improve it immensely.

If it's as a mid, then Wayne's-World agrees. Contested marking, good size, Sauce won't have to angle the ball down, he can knock it up higher, what else do we need in a midfielder.
Yeah, I was also going for that better Tap work that he does. Dean Cox doesn't like this. In the unlikely event that JJ pisses off for more coin, this wound up in my head. Knock it up higher. lol. A revolution in mid clearances. I just remembered the Ormond-Allen move. I miss that crazy stuff.

So what? Our best player is 173cm. Agree we need a couple of bigger bodied mids but quality is quality.

There's also no one in our midfield with a good singing voice.

Actually, we should find out what Delta's brother is doing.
