The thing with trading in players is that it's not like going to a nice retail store where you just waltz in and order exactly what design you want, at the exact size, for the exact price you want to pay.

I imagine its really more like a Sunday morning trash and treasure stall. Youre not really sure what you're going to find, and you have to sort through what's there to find what fits - sometimes there might be something you weren't really looking for or don't even really need, but you can't ignore the quality. Or someone's junk might be you're treasure, you just have a bit more imagination.

So maybe a 185cm mid might be perfect, but maybe a 175cm mid is all that's sitting on the table. As long as they work, does it really matter?

It's really about what's there, what's available, and what you can make of it.
Basically get quality through the door , train them well and let them fight for their spots

Standard rises with more quality on the list and Comp for spots

Jack Steele would be top of my shopping list, pick 24 2014 draft to GWS, Canberra lad so no Victorian go home factor, 187cm 86Kg, not yet a big reputation, tough/hard at it, inside/outside mid that can play forward too...kid is a future gun in waiting. Would gladly give our 1st for him next draft.

Wayne would love him because can rest forward and take marks

Could be the best tackler in the Comp which doesn't hurt either

More importantly his name is pretty badass. Sounds like a renegade police officer who doesn't mind crossing a line to put the baddies away.

This will never happen and he's vice captain but if Carlton were looking to offload Kade Simpson because they are building for future for a CEY and or 2nd round pick I'd strongly consider it

You could release smith to midfield and wing rotation and get 2-3 good years out of Simpson

Hibberd prob works better if you could pry him away without giving up anything

If we can get seasoned quality without giving up much then we maximise the window we are heading into

Wonder if the club has looked at Jake Barrett from GWS. Absolute ball magnet at NEAFL level and has only had 1 game in his 3 years (pretty sure he came on as sub). Pretty quick too from memory.
His cousin is Luke Breust if I remember correctly.

Yeah missed the boat - fair call , thought he may be 31 but even that's 2 yrs too old for such a move

Maybe we should recruit Michael Tuck - he's aging well
What about KB .....heard he wants the games record back ;)

You'd have to think the age profile of any traded player will be in that 22 - 26 year range

I'm happy with 26-29 if they can play and realistically some of these bottom clubs may want to do a st kilda which has worked out OK for the saints

You give up plenty to get a 25 yr old in his prime compared to a 28- 29 yr old

I'm talking a needs player for 3-4 years max for our window

Nope ....another midget :p ......speedy player, but honestly he again is not the type of player we need

Prestia is a line breaker ......we fixed up that deficiency already at the trade & draft table
hard to imagine a midfielder better suited to our needs than Prestia.

that you disagree is only more evidence that he is what we need.

Is there the slightest chance that anyone on this board want;s to chase a player over 175cm ???????

10
Dion Prestia
Height
175 cm
DOB
12-10-1992
most of us have higher footy IQ's than the average pre-schooler and therefore don't have stupid, arbitrary ideas about midfielder height.
