Delistings and retirements: Van Berlo, Jaensch, Grigg, Shaw.

Trades & Free Agency: Henderson, CEY.

Upgrades: ROB, Keath. Greenwood stays cat B, Hunter stays a rookie, as does Beech. Keath is someone I think we may look to give opportunities to, but could stay cat b if that's considered best.

I would keep Lowden for another year. Similarly, I'd keep Kelly and Dear for another look.

Thompson is a hard one. I actually lean towards retirement, and having his salary as something we focus towards someone. I think he's a bit of a crutch for us and I don't think he's there if we're truly competing for a flag.
I would put Thompson on my retire list and put Grigg on the trade table then delist

I have Knight as one of my trade bait to bring in a better option. Happy to keep him if no offer is agreed

I think clubs are good at knowing that a player will get delisted. Like Wright, we'll get nothing for Grigg but he also might get a crack elsewhere.

Both have huge potential and have showed a lot early. Reckon Brad has a higher ceiling though tbh. Brayshaw would still be worth a top-5 pick at this stage where as Crouch a late first round. Better to stick with Crouch.
Brayshaw 29 disposals and a couple of goals first game back in the VFL today after his 2 concussions but I'm with you I'd stick with Brad for the same reasons.

Bring home?!

He is a Vic country kid! We had interest at draft time and no doubt still do but he is not leaving Victoria.
Alright. My bad. I assumed his old man stayed on after he retired from the bays.

So - who would trade for Brett Deledio? It's probably a first round pick, which for us will be 12-16.

No. Deledio would want 4 years retirement fund. If he took 2 years then sure look at it, but not as some benefit fund

There has been some talk about port trading out certain players to improve their culture and improve their list demographic at the same time. Much like we tried to do in 2013 when we traded Bernie Vince.

Robbie Gray has even been mentioned. Would give my front teeth for 28 year old Gray in our premiership window but if he was offered up I assume he would move home to Victoria and find no shortage of suitors.

Hypothetical: what about Hartlett if he was offered up? He is mentioned often as a gold pass holder who coasts on his talent, much like Vince did. Would you take him? Could you see him turning it around or would a club switch in the same city not be a drastic enough change to shock him into gear? What would he be worth?

Not sure he would make our best 22 at the moment. Whose he replacing?

Hartlett is a total figjam. Thinks he's as good as ablett. He's not much better than seedsman. The way he snipes players off the ball, starts scraps and heckles opposition players is embarrassing and not befitting a crows player. Much better off playing with the meth heads at Alberton.

Good analogy about Vince. Hartlett had the world at his feet and he got told that so often he thought he didn't have to do the work. Great player and can still bring something but , like Vince , he needs to disappear into Melbourne where the only way to get noticed is to either go rogue or put his head down and play football

The hard thing is - the PAPs have painted themselves into a corner with Hartlett.

They have overpaid him, but thy can't just give him up for a second rounder to clear salary cap space.

I hope so as well. But you have to ask the question at least.

They have painted themselves into a corner with a lot of their players on longer term contracts that are not performing. I doubt Houdini would be able to get out of this mess.
Top end picks and $$ will be a huge issue if they try to offload and if they do they are going to take a hit.

Way overrated list.

Kochie has been great for them, their priority seems to be:
1) match day entertainment.
2) chest beating over membership numbers.
3) promoting their club in the Chinese market.
4) believing their own hype.

So far its worked a treat!!
