If, say 57 is shifted to 62, then 58 becomes 57, 59 is 58, etc.

If, then 55 goes to 64, then the original 58 is now 56, and the new 62 is now 61.
Okay, so there's shuffling, it's not like everyone loses a spot in the line. Sweet.

Is it just a Scott thing?

Trading tops up a good list and makes it elite. Trading turns an average list into a good list. With a ceiling. Without development of youth. Condemning it to heartache before the inevitable cliff drop.

They are shooting themselves in the foot aiming for a premiership when their ceiling will likely be also rans to the top 6.

I cannot believe Chris Scott is turning a club like Geelong into a club like North Melbourne.

(what if two teams have similar values, if the first team gets pick 64 then another team gets pick 62, does that push the 64 down the order?)
Not exactly sure what you mean?

Each pick happens in order. In the linked example they use for Callum Mills, Sydney's picks all get shunted down. Everyone else's picks get moved up or down accordingly. Then if say Melbourne bid for a Bris academy player with pick 7 (down from 6 due to Sydney jumping up), then all of Bris picks get shunted, and everyone else moves up or down accordingly. The points value of pick 60 remains at the same value, but the team who owns that pick will change with every f/s/academy player bid on beforehand.
If, say 57 is shifted to 62, then 58 becomes 57, 59 is 58, etc.

If, then 55 goes to 64, then the original 58 is now 56, and the new 62 is now 61.
This is good.

I'm interested to hear what people believe our best 22 is for next year (im from vic and its hard to discuss this with people in vic) For the purpose of this let's assume everyone is fit, b.crouch, Jaensch etc. And let's assume Kerridge, Wright and Mckay are gone and we gain Hampton and Anderson. Thanks

I think their recent history gives them the belief. In a way, I can't blame them for that thought process.

Sorry I have been trying to follow it but missed this ...

Does the pick get the value of it's new position - or keep it's original value?

So in the example that 58 becomes 57 - is it now worth 182 points or 170 points?

You can discount Mills/Hopper/Kennedy as they are academy products, I reckon Gold Coast will take Francis at 3, unless they go Curnow (he's more a forward whereas Francis more of a back) as a result of losing Dixon, Essendon apparently in love with Parish and I don't think Adelaide will go with Curnow (he's a Geelong Falcon as well  as is Mathieson)

1. Weitering - Carlton
2. Schache - Brisbane
3. Francis - Gold Coast
4. Parish - Essendon
5. Oliver if St Kilda/ Tucker if Adelaide
6. Curnow- Melbourne
7. Mathieson - Collingwood (could turn into GWS)
8. Hopper or Kennedy - GWS
9. as per 5 - Adelaide / St Kilda ??

So no real reward imo.

edit Curnow i/o Weidmann at Melb
I hope you're wrong :p

Do you really think we are that scorned that we will forever overlook Falcons players even if we rate them higher than others? I really don't think so, we're not that silly are we? Just because one knobhead turned his back it doesn't have to restrict our drafting policies for the rest of our existence.

If that's the case we may as well do a blanket policy of never drafting another Victorian again o_O

I would say Lowden put zero pressure on Jenkins. Lowden was miles off afl pace when he actually played. No chance he was getting selected in front of Jenkins.
But at the time JJ had no idea how he was going to play but there was a player there who was brought in who could replace him. There is the possibility of being replaced where there previously wasn't really a player on our list putting any pressure on.

Nah it's me ! I'm scorned !

I did prefer Tucker over Milera ! Tucker is a North Ballarat boy same club as the Crouch brothers

It's not what he's worth - it what he costs.

I'd take the risk on Anderson ... what are we using the pick on anyway? If we only have 2 spots left to fill we use 9 and 13.
Doesn't mean we should join the auction

If we have pick 14 we will be delisting wright or whoever in a flash

Anderson is a pick 28 take it or leave it scenario

Let crap clubs like Carlton over pay for players if they want

Mckernan put far more pressure on JJ the previous 3 seasons than Lowden in fact Mckernan was selected in front of Jenkins on several occasions!

Sorry Nikki sound like the worlds worst reason to keep Lowden on the list, maybe Essendon will trade Smack back :)

OK - so you would rather let it not be used? I'm confused.

Unless we are swapping it for a pick next year or upgrading our other two picks - it will be worth zero. Nada. Zilch.

So we would be getting Anderson for NO COST to us. It's like having a voucher for Jed Anderson that expires at the end of the trade period and not using it.

if we think we can get Hampton, Anderson and Talia, will we look to trade out Lowden? Kerridge and Wright look gone, but we would still need an extra list spot.
I think we can kill off the dream of picking up Anderson and Talia.

The lastest contract signings mean that Wright and Kerridge are the only players still uncontracted. With 3 live draft selections we need to delist Wright. Kerridge out, Hampton in, means that the list position maths doesn't change. There are no positions left for Anderson and Talia on our senior list.
