Didn't take much of an interest but when you hear Adam Goodes has everywhere you tend to miss the light tower.
I only caught it as his manager was on trade radio talking about someone else and said that he retired ahla Kane Cornes as he had been offered a once in a couple year banking job.

Is it really in our lists best interests to completely rebuild though? I would've liked another 21-22 year old.
It isn't. Full rebuild starting with this draft will take minimum 3, probably closer to 5 years to reach fruition. Go look at our list oldest to youngest and see who will be gone, and who will be past their best by then. Someone has to get fired if that's happening, because it's an enormous failure in list management.

Whats this talk of sydney giving us pick 14 for 2 of our higher picks....why would they do that. How does it benefit them?

This trade week, any chances of a premiership in the next 3 years and the career primes of the few high quality players we have left evaporating like a fart in the wind, because our chief salesman apparently couldn't sell water in the desert. That's ok though, we've signed our enormous list of incredibly ordinary players to extensions.

What a waste of time.
not sure if srs....

We need to get rid of the deadwood in the club (Mackay , Jaensch , Lowden , VB , Henderson) with younger players.

We are developing our younger ( Laird , Crouch , CC , Knight etc) players and get some games into them. Whilst adding the draftees from this year. So we are in a decent position if you ask me

I totally agree with you about not having a proper salesman for our recruiting department.
People may crap on about me being negative about Noble and Co, but my point is very simple and constructive. I am saying we need to beef up that part of our admin. We nees to find someone who can sell our club better to players and the ability to pull off the big fish.
How anyone can put that down is beyond me.
Our retention is poor and we are not a destination club. Everyone knows that. So how about people stand up and say we need to beef up this area and poach someone who is considered the best in the buisness.

Not going to happen.
Vader, in the past I have a recollection - that there was a player who's contract was renewed (within days) then traded. Do you recall or am I just suffering from that old age disease. Could that be a possible strategy, dependent on how the cards fall.

I'd rather grab a 3rd 1st round player, who I can at least hope will become a genuine gun (noting that all of our recent 1st round draftees have turned out well), than a fringe player from another club (who would probably be a fringe player at our club as well).

Losing Dangerfield is a major setback. We need to inject some decent talent into our list, and fringe players like Grigg, CEY, Lyons, Anderson, Hampton and Gore probably aren't going to achieve that. Having 3x selections in the top-14 would give us a decent chance of landing a potential gun player, albeit one who will take a couple of years to reach their full potential.

I know i said i would wait till the end of the draft .....but the anger is simmering

If we lose Dangerfield and Kerridge and Gore / Hampton in ...our net is a side that's going backwards
Every side looks to be improving there list .....except us .....yep it's still early

We're in a shit position. We just lost our best player, we completely and utterly failed to replace him, we have no A grade youth coming through. We have a huge glut of ordinary players, and most of our existing A graders will be retired or past their best by the time any young A graders we get from this year and next year - if we successfully draft any, that is - reach an age where they are significant contributors.

Wash, rinse, recycle, another 3 years wasted.

It's actually illegal to do that, unless there are exceptional circumstances. The following is taken from the AFL CBA 2012-2016:
18.6 In the event that the provisions of sub clause 18.5 operates, in the reasonable opinion of the AFLPA, in a manner inconsistent with the spirit and intention of the parties in introducing that clause, the following provision shall apply from a date to be agreed between the AFLPA and the AFL:
“Save and except where in the opinion of the General Manager – Football Operations, there are exceptional and compelling circumstances that make it harsh and unconscionable for a Player not to be exchanged, no AFL Club shall exchange any Player who has not completed at least one AFL Season under his current contract with the AFL Club or such lesser period as agreed between AFL and AFLPA”.

To be honest, this is normally how we roll at the trade table.

Or blow everyone away with their first year, Hogan, Wines...

It's truly hard to accurately rate Hampton because not being selected for GWS is far different to not being selected in other teams purely because of all the top end talent on their list. I think its too easy to fall into that trap like some negative nellies on this board have done. By no means am I saying he is a gun but It wouldn't surprise me to see him in our side round 1 making an impact.

I didn't think you were the dramatic type WW.

We were always in trouble when danger decided to leave

If we are starting from the fact of Danger leaving, then your are going to be disappointed because there isn't the calibre of player out there to replace him (well Bennell was, but he went to Freo)
