It also suggests that they're in desperation mode, wanting to win a flag before half their team retires.
It also suggests that they really don't rate the talent in this year's draft, given that they would prefer a player who can't make Hawthorn's team to pick #15.
Spot on! NM need ready made players and so far everyone else they have targeted has said NO THANK YOU! Like a horney drunk at the end of the night they are trying to grab whatever crumbs they can.

I am, however, getting a little tired of this halo effect with Hawthorn. People seem to think just being associated with Hawthorn means you're twice the player you are. When all the clubs are doing is boosting Hawthorn's continued dominance.

I don't see why it's desperation mode. Anderson has shown nothing at this stage to suggest that he is going to help them win a flag next year so I think it is actually more of a project move. Simple fact is that they see him as better than whoever they would get at 15 this year. Desperation move would be taking someone like Dal Santo... Oh wait.
If Anderson was suddenly available in this years draft where would he be taken? I think 15-20 is about right.

the funny thing is .. by north getting Jed who is very questionable and has no credits to his name .. they will be making hawks even stronger LOL .. good luck winning premierships with your old slow team by helping hawks get a defender that will be better than any forward you can put on the field.

I don't think anyone could be critical of the AFC for not getting Anderson, if North were prepared to pay that much for him. I think we'd all be ropeable with the club if they even contemplated the possibility of topping North's offer.
I think the key is convincing players to choose your club and only your club. Even contracted players seem to be nominating teams now.
Anderson, however, did not and it became a bidding war. If we really wanted him, surely we could have offered his brother some kind of role at the club, given that he's already living here. I get the feeling we really weren't that interested.

Noble has said we would like three picks in the top 30. Still think that's the way it will play out. May mean O'Brien doesn't get promoted until 2017 or Luke Lowden moves from the senior to rookie list.

Leon Cameron on Curtly Hampton...

"It's probably going to be announced today (that he's going to Adelaide). We wish him all the best. I'm hearing it's a trade for a second-round pick."
