Yep something else is up our sleeve for sure.
Could have easily used pick 28 or 32 for Hampton.
IMO we are getting one of GWS's first round picks this year in a package & trading away next years 2nd rounder was a handshake agreement and part of the deal that's coming up.
Im not sure now. It would have been done with the Hampton trade as a package I would have thought.

we have 28 & 32 this year and unless we delist someone else we wont be using 28.

We need to trade someone out now for a second rd pick 2016. Its a stronger draft. See ya DMACK
We must be planning on using pick 28 in the draft.

Nobes did say he wanted 3 top 30 picks. Only tookie upgrade, and Wright and Kedge out?

Maybe we have a deal to come on Kerridge for Carltons second rounder from next season seing they have Geelongs first rounder next season already...
I'd be over the moon for that deal, but Carlton are a chance to have pick 20 as their second round pick next year. I would highly doubt they'd be giving that up.

Happy to get Hampton, seems to have a similar record to Seedsman, 50 games over 4 years. Everybody's getting much more excited about the Seed, probably because he's from a high profile club and Hampton isn't. But he could be as good, if not better than the Seed.

While 2016 second rounder seems overs, we're probably going to pay a second rounder for the Seed too. And deferred payment to 2016 does mean a discount in reality, we get the benefit now at no cost for 12 months. I think the club has a strategy: use the Dangerfield trade to accelerate our push for the top four.

I assume one of 28/32 goes to Collingwood for Seedsman, possibly 32 with the thought we then trade Kerridge + 28 to Carlton for 20.

The other option is packaging whatever we get for Kerridge, 28/32 + 13 for an upgraded pick.

It is hard to tell what our plans are given we can't account for whether one/both of Kelly and O'Brien will move to the senior list or stay on the rookie list.

Only other player I imagine we might be looking at now would be M.Talia, time will tell.

Edit: Oh and Rosa if there's any truth to that rumour.

Especially when the draft depth doesn't go past 30.
I know that's often said about every draft but history does show plenty of 100+ game players come from far wider than pick 30, it's just these type of players are more of a potential boom or bust type outcome. For instance I've seen a WA lad playing locally here in Ballarat Yestin Eades that has AFL quality talent written all over him with the right development, very Charlie Cameron like ability with great speed, can really stick a tackle, disposal is OK too, just tends to not lift his eyes and rush his disposals on occasions....will likely go late in the draft or a rookie perhaps but he's way better than that potential wise.

If this is the Hampton trade, what was the hold up? We could've rubber stamped this Monday...
I would think they were probably trying to get him for less, but it didn't work out (because we have no back bone at the trade table) so we gave up more than what we wanted to.

Do NOT like. 2016 is a strong draft and giving up what could be a good pick is disappointing.
As always, we slightly overpay on a deal that we didn't need to. Hampton picked us, should have been a 3rd round pick at best. I'm assuming we will now trade either 28 for Seedsman or trade whatever we get for Kerridge.

We really need to try and trade out some fringe players here. Clubs seem willing to overpay for players this year given a weaker draft. Can we run around and suggest Mackay, Wright, Lyon, Henderson and VB are all available?? Should be able to get some takers and some good picks!
Hampton was still contracted, this was always going to be the deal once we also had to trade for Seedsman. GWS could've kept him just like they are doing with McCarthy.

I mean seriously, this trade has been speculated for a couple of weeks now, and people are still complaining!

Questionable, say it ends up being pick 26. Is 15 this year with 38 & 40 in return more than 26 next year in a stronger draft. There is not much in it to be honest.
We're essentially paying a little more for a ready made player. Pick 26 next year won't be ready until 2019. Acceptable risk imo.

Ok. I might be wrong but..... with Outs & Ins.

Out: Danger, Jpod, Reilly, Siggins and Martin
In: Gore, Hampton, ROB, Kelly.

Likely Ins: Seedsman (Pick 32 or 28)
Likely Outs: Wright & Kerridge

Leaves us with only two live picks still (8 & 13) with pick 28 or 30 being useless unless we delist or trade someone else.

Still believe we could package 28 or 32 with Kerridge and chase pick 20.

Then 20 & either 13 or 8 to chase and earlier pick, eg. Pick 5.

5 & 8 or 5 & 13 sounds pretty good.

All this talk about next year being stronger - we won't know that as fact for about 4 years from now. Everyone needs to settle down.
I'm Mr Meeseeks, look at me. Good point, but there is still a slight validation when talking about weak and strong drafts. I'm Mr Meeseeks.

this is what will happened for the rest of the trade/FA/Draft period barring no major surprises

we will send pick 32 to Collingwood for Seedsman
the highest pick we will get for Kerridge from Carlton is a 3rd rounder i would ask for their 2016 3rd round selection
Kelly and O'Brien will be upgraded
Wright will be delisted
we will use picks 9,13,28 at the draft

Think we must be offering 2016 3rd rounder to Collingwood for Seedsman, otherwise the deal would be done now. Balme said he would take one of our second round picks for him last night.
