Edit: Maybe we're in discussions with Carlton for a pick in next year's draft with a Kerridge trade? There's every chance that Carlton's 3rd round pick for next year will still be a top 40 draft pick.
I like this one a lot, if we finish say 6th next year our 2nd is #30, whereas Carlton's 3rd rounder is likely to be #40, then we can package it with a player and upgrade next year to whatever

All this talk about next year being stronger - we won't know that as fact for about 4 years from now. Everyone needs to settle down.
I don't want to settle down!

Yep something else is up our sleeve for sure.
Could have easily used pick 28 or 32 for Hampton.
IMO we are getting one of GWS's first round picks this year in a package & trading away next years 2nd rounder was a handshake agreement and part of the deal that's coming up.
I really really hope that is right, because as the trade stands right now, we paid slightly overs

For argument's sake, where would Port get another 1st rounder from? Swapping one of their ready-made players? Who, to where?

What a cluster **** that's turning out to be.

Probably not much chance of getting Toumpas if this deal goes to the last minute.

Probably a dumb question but what does trading future picks away mean for picking up Jarman?
Just means we've got less currency next year when he's available. I can see what you're implying and I'm ignoring it because I don't want it to be true.

As much as I was calling for us to push hard for Bennell, I am liking our moves so far. I get the feeling we were keen on Anderson but baulked at the asking price when Norf threw 15 on the table. The Seed and Curtly Ambrose are both good value acquisitions, both have plenty of talent and are coming into that bracket where they should really start to improve their consistency. We have improved our list balance through trade and still have a good chance to bring in some top end talent through the draft. If we can turn Kedge into Menzel, I think it will be a relatively good outcome.

Nothing unless he becomes a top 10 player, we will be able to make the points to get him. He's looking more like a rookie list option at this stage because he was Ian Callinan height last time he was measured publicly.

Hampton was still contracted, this was always going to be the deal once we also had to trade for Seedsman. GWS could've kept him just like they are doing with McCarthy.

I mean seriously, this trade has been speculated for a couple of weeks now, and people are still complaining!

If you tell them that the lawn is green they'll say it's red.

Relatively good? That would be terrific.

If we could then somehow swing pick 9 or 13 into a top 5 pick and draft Aaron Francis we would have dominated the trade period.

It has almost evolved into a "known fact" on here that Wright is being arsed not sure if we will see that, however, a few weeks back when Dangerfield still wore yellow, red and blue there was some talk that Jaensch was in strife with his last misdemeanour and of course his injury, is it realistic with Seed and Hampton in that he might be looking at a large axe?
