It has almost evolved into a "known fact" on here that Wright is being arsed not sure if we will see that, however, a few weeks back when Dangerfield still wore yellow, red and blue there was some talk that Jaensch was in strife with his last misdemeanour and of course his injury, is it realistic with Seed and Hampton in that he might be looking at a large axe?
Reason being Wright is still un-signed.

Surely Port need to call in the mediation crew now.
I really feel for them. I can't believe all these clubs are ganging up on them to try and stop them becoming the greatest team in the history of the World. They are all just scared of Port. Isn't that right Rooch?

GC are dreaming. No way Port will give up two first rounders for him!! (even if they manage to get another somehow)

Surely a first and second rounder gets the job done?!

Could be interesting if Toumpas gets left on the side ... could there be a few decent players in the PSD? Toumpas, Talia?

Relatively good? That would be terrific.

If we could then somehow swing pick 9 or 13 into a top 5 pick and draft Aaron Francis we would have dominated the trade period.
I just can't describe any off-season where we lose a player of Danger's calibre as terrific.

happy to get hampton but
disappointed by the administration ... getting unders for danger .. and paying overs for the others ...
The bloke is ready to go he has played 51 games. Compare that to Anderson who cost North pick 15. Honestly some of you miss the point so often. He brings speed which you have been crying out for. Plus experience, ready to go player and still some bitch. I'm always amazed by the attitude of a few on this board. It is like you take enjoyment by slamming everything the club does. Is the club always right? NO! However they are the pros and they get more right than wrong. Everyone is saying it is a strong draft next year, do we the fans really know this? We are told by others and suddenly it becomes folklore.

Second round next year with us not having Danger could be pretty close to Norths deal for Anderson considering they get 2 later picks back and everyone is laughing at them. Seems overs to me for someone that is not in GWS best side but hopefully works out for us.
Remember GWS have lots of talented options for outside run we don't so slots very nicely into our team

Nothing has given an indication that we are sharpening the axe for more than Wright (who we haven't re-signed yet and have literally everyone else).
It would be a ballsy move to cut Jaensch, and I'm not sure I'd be happy if they did. Only other player that could move on (other than Kerridge) is maybe Lyons, if he gets some interest elsewhere.

Paladin does make a couple of valid points, about the rookie upgrade situation.
  • Neither of the media releases explicitly states that the player will be upgraded to the senior list.
  • There are precedents, albeit at other clubs (not Adelaide), for rookies to be given multi-year contracts while remaining on the rookie list.
That said, I still believe that both players will be upgraded, even if it means making only 2 "live" selections in the draft.

While it is not explicitly stated that they will be upgraded, it is implied. The club has never given a rookie a multi-year contract without upgrading them. As the Laird media release shows, the club does not always announce these things at the time - Laird's contract was announced in August, with confirmation of the upgrade coming in October.

The club made these decisions early - July for Kelly, August for ROB. Compare that with Ramsey, who hasn't yet been announced as being retained - he just wasn't on the list of delisted players.

You can play semantics all you like with the wording of those media releases, but at the end of the day it's almost certain that both players will be upgraded to the senior list.
It would make zero sense to upgrade two rookies and use either pick 28 or 32 on one of them if we still had it. We are way better off picking a player in the draft (even a 'shallow' draft) if we have a pick that high.

Losing Dangerfield was a forgone conclusion before the trade period started. The trade period can still be terrific, in spite of losing him, if we turn what we get for him into a win. Getting Seedsman, Gore, Hampton and Menzel as suggested, with 2 first rounders, would be a terrific outcome.
