this is what will happened for the rest of the trade/FA/Draft period barring no major surprises

we will send pick 32 to Collingwood for Seedsman
the highest pick we will get for Kerridge from Carlton is a 3rd rounder i would ask for their 2016 3rd round selection
Kelly and O'Brien will be upgraded
Wright will be delisted
we will use picks 9,13,28 at the draft
Doesn't add up. Including Kerridge & Wright we will have lost 7 players. We have 3 players coming in, and 2 rookie upgrades. That leaves 2 vacancies as things stand.

There are still 3 options open.
1 - Delist a contracted player.
2 - Make only 2 live selections in the draft.
3 - Upgrade only one of Kelly/ROB.

Option 2 is the hot favourite.

Is there actually any benefit (for AFC) to upgrading ROB and/or Kelly?

Neither are likely to be considered for selection unless there's an LTI and then we can use our earlier National Draft selections to pick someone ahead of the Rookie Draft. The only downside i can see would be the requirement to offer a 2-year contract instead of 1-year at the rookies rate I.e. salary.

4. Trade a contracted player....

Less likely. Agree with 2.

It would make zero sense to upgrade two rookies and use either pick 28 or 32 on one of them if we still had it. We are way better off picking a player in the draft (even a 'shallow' draft) if we have a pick that high.
I think they will engineer a pick swap with an Academy club, moving us up the draft order.

ROB definitely.

If we have no lti's and Jacob's rolls an ankle we are royally screwed....

If we get 3x top 15 picks this year then it won't matter if we don't have a 2nd rounder next year, we'll have currency to trade with Grigg & Lyons anyway.
If Grigg and Lyons have good years next season then we won't want to trade them. If they don't they'll have 5 and 6 years respectively on the list without establishing themselves and be worth virtually nothing.

Grigg just been re-signed, so unlikely to be traded now but in reality, with Pyke saying he wants to base our game around speed and fast ball movement, these two may not have much of a role next year.

And with Hampton and Seedsman coming in (although I don't think Seed is best 22 at this stage), you can't see where Henderson fits into the picture anymore.

With VB and Dmac virtually untradeable and unable to be delisted, re-signing Shaw for 2 seems to be a strange move now. Surely delisting and rookie to see if he can stay fit for more than a month or two would have been wiser.

Going to be an interesting couple of weeks to see how the club manage this list and get some decent high draft pick talent in.

Pity he had such a blitzing end to the year. Lot of kids play SANFL before draft but few dominate like he has in a couple of games. Getting 24 touches and 5 goals in a game was pretty big but to then come back from heart surgery and be one of the best on the ground in a final meant he was going to rocket up the order. Even talk on the Saints looking at him with pick 5.

Can't see Milera going that high personally, if he's our target my gut feel is Pick 9 will get it done, Francis however?
