a little cold water from the Age blog:

OK, back to the question of Carlton's Troy Menzel.

The situation is this. Carlton are keen on Adelaide tagger Sam Kerridge, and have offered him a sizeable contract. They are waiting for him to accept it, upon which the clubs would need to work out a trade.

The suggestion has been Kerridge is probably worth a second-round pick.

Moments ago, Troy Menzel's manager Adam Ramanauskas appeared on AFL Trade Radio, in which he pretty categorically said Menzel would be at Carlton next year. He is, after all, presently contracted and hasn't been mentioned in any trade gossip.

Then he said this: "never say never".

And suddenly, we're talking about a trade involving Troy heading to Adelaide, in exchange for Kerridge and a second-round pick.

Our AFL trade experts, who are presently working the phones, tell me this is very much a real option and not just a rumour. However, they say the trade is at this stage very unlikely, because the proposal is so far under Menzel's value.

Neither club has given any official comment on the story just yet. We will wait to see what they say.

Don't think we are going to trade Menzel for Kerridge that will mean we have given away another future gun for nothing.
You are just simply wrong, Kerridge is not "nothing", he is quite an accomplished footballer with elite endurance, neat skill set, and not one to shirk a contest and I'll suggest if he gets a fair crack under Bolton your going to be pleasantly surprised with him as a player if the deal goes through. He has been starved of opportunities with us due to our coaching staff continually selected David Mackay and Nathan van Berlo who have habitually both underperformed in the role Sam should have been playing.

A win-win for both parties.
