My Uncle used to coach Torrens and he reckons the Crows are 4/5 players away from being really good and I couldn't agree more. Get rid of VB, Wright, McKay, Henderson and replace them with much better players and we'll be humming along very nicely. We have to take a really aggressive approach and replace all these spuds in the offseason otherwise we're just going to spin out wheels for another year.
Sounds like a Des special... Did he also tell you about how tackling will be outlawed in 10 years

The top end of our list is great and compareable with some of the best sides in the AFL, but our 14-22 guys on field were usually the issue, which is why it was always so frustrating that we'd never give guys like Lyons, Grigg, CEY etc a genuine chance, because we never knew if they could jump up and improve those positions. They'd rather back in average 200 gamers like Reilly and VB and know what you'd get from them then take a big chance on some youngsters. At least that now appears to be changing somewhat.

Should we try and trade someone for Troy Menzel?

Looks out of favour at Carlton and would add something to out forward line.

FF: Betts - Walker - Menzel
HF: Cameron - Jenkins - Lynch
Was a bit unhappy at Carlton early last year, think wanted to join his bro, we had a go at him but he ended up signing at Carlton. Looks unhappy again!

Problem with that is a decent KPP will cost you an arm and a leg (without FA). I agree we should top up key defenders and rucks through this method, and maybe draft mature agers though.
You know anything about us chasing Aish?

Seeing that was something we were expected to do.

That's the issue.

Our side would be better off with a yarran type if it meant losing say cey type as we have inside mids wasting in the Sanfl.

Need to give up value to get what we need.
Watched the Carlton vs Collingwood seconds game in the VFL on the telly early this arvo and Yarran played well...

Yeah, definitely a Defender if possible. Henderson should be on our radar first and foremost imo

Hmm not really, I know we met with him in the off season last year but that's a long time ago! Too hard to say until each team's season is over.

Yep challenge for him is to back it up next week. If he does he has a future. If he doesn't, there's serious question marks.
I think the leg injury early in the year really shook him up. At the start of the year you usually think you are invincible and can bang and crash into contests. Throw a nasty injury in their and next thing you hesitate before going for a bump or jumping up in a contest. Reckon Hendo will be a lot better next season and is worth persisting with because his upside is huge when he is on.

The problem is that 4/5 footballers away is a lot. Presumably (obviously) he means good players. How actually do we acquire that many good footballers?

4/5 away isn't close for me.

I dont watch enough Collingwood to know, but was browsing the draft board and noticed a familiar name: Ben Kennedy.

I know he was in discussion for our Mini draft pick (that we used on Brad Crouch). Doesnt sound like he's found his footing at the pies, and I seem to remember he was a quick outside player with a good leg? Still young, so could be a good pickup? Or at least add another young outside player with potential, possibly at a discounted price. Though, it is collingwood, so they're always a headache

He struggles to get a game at Collingwood as he is in competition for Blairs spot. I'm not sure where he fits in with our side as he seems earmarked as a small/fwd who can run through the middle. We are for once blessed with small forwards ( I mean even Matty Wright can't make our 22 based on that) and he is just too small to make his mark in the middle based on his career so far.

I reckon he would cost us our second round pick ( what the Pies would want) and in what is termed a shallow draft, he would fill an age gap and be AFL ready to play so would provide a decent return on what may be a speculative pick. If he was for our third rounder or a player swap it'd be a no brainer but the club might look at actual needs if they are trading the second pick and at the moment, Kennedy isn't something we lack in his role.
