To do that though they sacrifice their depth, yet again, which they have almost none of.

-They could trade Lobbe and possibly get a late first round pick.
-They could get a second round pick for Schultz, probably about pick 40.
-They might get a late 3rd round pick for Butcher

Do they have anyone worth anything after that that anyone would want? Young? Moore? O-Shea? Mitchell? Bottom of the barrel stuff right there.

ps: Think I am being too optimistic with their players trade values.
Isn't he an out of contract free agent? Can't he just leave?

Regarding the Menzel 'rumour' I've got a bit to add.

Believe Redhorse is on the money. Have asked a few questions this last hour.

Silvagni has a fetish for high picks. He's also impatient and frustrated with Menzel's output. Heaes something earlier today so followed it up, we're definitely in for him.

Just suspect the only way carlton force him out is if we put up our first. Something I personally wouldn't give for a medium forward who's been merely okay in a three years. Menzel I think wants to stay, as well.

Our first? Yeah nah. Straight swap for Lyons would be good for both parties I think.

So Carlton are open to trading him and we are dead keen.

Menzel must be warming to the idea if he is meeting the AFC administration this week?

If not, Id be fairly pissed getting shopped around like that, especially for a young player.

While I don't doubt Bennell's ability as a player, I'm not sure I'd want to take the risk with his off field issues. Especially bearing in mind what it would probably cost us in trade. I'd be happy to keep our 1st round picks to draft and develop young talent.
I don't think any club would be concerned, he'll naturally mature, most likely once he finds a girl but he has played great football despite those off-field issues. Doesn't matter what he does at home, you know you are still going to get a good footballer.

I think redhorse said we were into someone else apart from menzel. Didn't give a name yet, but was "exciting".

He is impatient and frustrated with Menzel's performances

You have stated this as fact, how do you actually know this?

However I do agree that any decision to trade Menzel.will be on the basis to secure another first round pick

Also our interest in Menzel has been reported well before Redhorse's post

Anybody else thinking if we part ways with our 1st rounder the blues are passing that onto brisbane for Aish.
Who'd you rather.. Aish or Menzel? I know who I'd take

There may not be a choice, Aish may prefer Carlton as it would be an easier midfield to break in to

FWIW I would prefer Menzel

Is menzel contracted?

if not I find it hard to believe he'd be worth a first rounder, even if we end up with an end of first round compo pick. At least not without some extra sweetener coming from Carlton, and I havent seen much sugar in their list this year.

I am keen to see how SOS atempts to rebuild the blues list. Working at GWS as a recruiter would be like a fat kid in a candy shop, the blues are going to be a much tougher assignment.

1st this year, 1st next year should be enough to form the bulk of the deal. Future trading and all.
Firstly, I don't believe this is allowed under the future pick trading rules.

Secondly, that would make it 4 years without taking a first round pick to the draft for Port. Kenny doing a Ross Lyon number on their list?

Yeah, it's not hard to build an amazing list when you have 20 first round draft picks... we'll see if he's any good now.
