Neale is a pipe dream like bennell was .... Freo won't let him go and no doubt he doesnt want to go given he is playing amazing football under Ross Lyon who seems to have ultimate respect from his players if not his assistant coaches and they are coming off a prelim final

We can push for it but the chances are very limited

The only chance perhaps is a crushing $$ offer , what would we be willing to pay for him per season ?

Great player but I wouldn't pay crazy $$, doesn't have the silk of a Bennell.

Unfortunately it was a draft blunder we won't get back.

Did Rendell dislike Glenelg or something? Neale, Murdoch.

It's probably one of those things that when they are in your backyard you see more weakness and judge them harder

I agree re the $$ , can't spend too much cash on small mids unless they are GAJ

Agreed. The Neale talk is ridiculous. He won't leave Freo. He's pushing Mundy as their second best mid. We'd need to give up shedloads for him, and that's IF he wants to leave before his contract runs out.

Just because Danger is going it doesn't mean we can automatically replace him with an SA-born gun of our choice, regardless if we wave fistfulls of cash in front of his face.

We'll have to just come to terms that the best we will get for Danger will be Geelong's first and maybe a B Grade player. Almost all Geelong players are now contracted so any deal involving a player will need some serious persuading. We don't have any upper hand in this deal because Danger walked out on us. In the end, we'll be screwed anyway you look at it.

Realistically, we need to be looking long term at FA's and other uncontracted players over the next 2 years. That's where Danger's 'replacement' will come from.

accepting that it is unlikely that Neale will leave Freo (unless he sees a better opportunity at Adelaide given that he could lose his spot with Crowley coming back and talk of Bennell coming in)... what about a 4 way deal between Adelaide, Geelong, Gold Coast and Freo:

Adelaide:
In: Pick 9 2015 (Geelong), Neale (Fremantle), Geelong first Round 2016
Out: Pick 13 (Gold Coast), Van Berlo

Gold Coast:
In: Pick 13, Van Berlo
Out: Bennell (Fremantle)

Fremantle:
In: Bennell, Geelong 2nd round 2015 (pick 29)
Out: Neale, Fremantle 2nd Round pick (about 34)

Geelong:
In: Dangerfield, Fremantle second round pick
Out: Picks 9 + 29 2015, 1st round 2016

Effect:
Adelaide - we upgrade our first pick and get Neale plus a 1st round in 2016
Gold Coast - get a seasoned, professional midfielder which they are screaming for and a first round pick for Bennell (given his discipline problems, they might be willing to take this)

Fremantle - lose Neale but gain Bennell and also can use the upgraded 2nd pick in a deal for Cam Mcarthy

Geelong - Get their man while retaining their players

i have to say people, these hypothetical trades are not complicated enough!

I propose:

Adelaide
IN: Geelong 1st round 2015, Geelong 1st Round 2016, Colin Kaepernick (SF 49ers), Anthony Martial (Man Utd), Water (Mars), Bryce Gibbs (Carlton)
OUT: David Mackay, Nathan Van Berlo, Ricky Henderson, Patrick Dangerfield

Geelong
IN: Patrick Dangerfield
OUT: Geelong 1st round 2015, Geelong 1st Round 2016

San Francisco 49ers
IN: Ricky Henderson (cheerleader)
OUT: Colin Kaepernick

Man Utd
IN: Nathan Van Berlo
OUT: Anthony Martial

Mars
IN: David Mackay (so he can almost never play for us again)
OUT: salty water for Matt Damon

Carlton
IN: Matt Wright
OUT: Bryce Gibbs

You can do most of these trades exclusively, but it's better to tie them all into one giant mess.

dazbroncos Someone else asked you for a list of players that you could see being part of a trade. Looking forward to seeing it.

Also when you get to it can you also do a list of players you could see being traded within Victoria as part of a three way trade? The only way I see this happening is in a mammoth 3 way with Carlton that would require a young Victorian player.

Remember trades are fair when all parties feel like they're losing so please don't serve up the equivalent of our Mackay/VB/Shaw/Wright etc.

Any other Geelong posters welcome to participate (Mahlepi, manboob).
