Let me guess, not your favourite player?
Actually rate him as a player, think he is played out of position. He should be played on the wing and before we got Eddie in, he should have been our small forward because he is quick on the first ten steps and has goal sense. Being as we have Eddie and the Jets as our small forwards then Jaensch possie should be wing where he can use his kick into our f50 to our advantage.

As a person, I would willingly have my left arm sawn off above the elbow so I had something to beat him to death with. I challenge one person to spend 5 minutes with Matty and not walk away muttering "douchebag" under their breathe, even his mother would. Tries way to hard to be the clown, first couple of times you kinda laugh but pretty soon you're excusing yourself from the table he is sat on. Some people would say he is a good old fashioned larrakin but those people still wear Hungry Jacks sunglasses and mullets...which sounds like Froggy to be honest

I'll admit I'm biased towards Lyons but I wouldn't trade him for a 3rd rounder. Conversely, there's no way he's worth a 1st!

For some teams he wouldn't be worth it but to others with a need for a player type like him he's worth a 30-35 pick OR more likely a player swap of equal value.
I think Lyons will be used for player acquisitions (bundled with a pick in these cases except Talia); Carlton (Menzel), WB (Talia), Collingwood (Seedsman).

Jarryd Lyons will not be a crow in 2016

From a very very reliable source in direct relation to Jarryd

Will be asking for a move back to Victoria.
Would not blame him for a second. For two off-seasons in a row he has attracted intersted from Melbourne based clubs and each time he has turned his back on it and decided to stay loyal to the club and fight for his spot in the side and every time he has, at times unfairly been languishing in the reserves. Third time, it might be lucky for the Melbourne based clubs.

Good kid who turned back longer term deals with more money to stick around. I am a fan of the kid. Very good around stoppages, clean hands and can kick a goal. Good mark for his size as well.

Is Seedsman really worth more than Lyons? I'd say that's a straight swap and they would likely get the better player.

Very well said.

Lyons is a far better player than the AFC allowed with their poor selections to gold pass members over a guy who could actually play footy.

My god if we land Menzel, Hampton and Anderson I will be thrilled.

Brilliant targets in terms of what we lack; speed (Hampton & Anderson), left-footers (Menzel & Anderson) and X-Factor (All 3).
Yeah this. If we end up with this as our haul, plus an upgrade on our 1st rounder (13 to 9) and an extra 1st next year, it would certainly lessen the blow of losing Dangerfield, IMO (although it wouldn't be a complete fix, no way). We've been screaming out for depth in our 22 to replace VB, Mackay and co., have we not? Well here it is.

I'm fine with trading Lyons as I rate CEY higher and Lyons would attract more in a trade.

I hope Carlton are keen on him so we can involve him in a deal for Menzel.

I find it highly amusing that people here expect players like Andersen, Hampton and Seedsman to just come in and knock players like VB and Mackay straight out of the team. None of these players are in the best 22 for their existing teams, which finished lower than Adelaide - yet people are expecting them to kick a 200 gamer straight out of the team? Talk about ridiculously high expectations.

Don't get me wrong - I hope that they do come in and force their way into the 22. If that's at the expense of VB or Mackay, then so be it (and I would be more than happy to see Mackay demoted back to the SANFL). If they can do that, then it means that the likes of VB will have been forced out by competition for their position, meaning that our team is stronger for their replacement.

All I'm saying is that people need to be at least a little bit realistic when it comes to these players, and the likely changes to our best 22 as a result of their recruitment.

Depends how highly you rate Lyons. Could you ever see Lyons winning the ANZAC day medal (in a Collingwood side)? The answer is not in a million years for me.

I agree.

What pick value would need to be added to Lyons to bridge the gap to Menzel?

Well, in keeping within the spirit of this and the Danger thread, I'd suggest Carltons second rounder would get the deal across the line.

Anderson yes. Menzel also but you didn't include him so you probably agree on that.

Actually that bar is so low that these guys would just need to get thru PS to offer more.

after seeing some of the mock drafts that have will snelling as a pick in the 30's i question how shallow the draft supposedly is.

one of the finest footballers westies have produced in a while. if height is going to work against him then a club is going to get an utter bargain.
Agreed he will be a very good AFL player

No.. but I never would have picked Kerridge to kick 5 against North Melbourne, or Lynch to kick 10 against GWS either.
