Autopsy Post-game: North Melbourne dances with our sister, draws against Brisbane

Dylan Stephen’s has been fantastic the last few weeks, right after I mentally checked out on him. Every time he has the ball, it’s like pub games. Just darts.

Forward line is an Allen’s mixed bag. Zurhaar has been trying really hard. Larkey is in a rut - I agree he needs to lead up more, but it just seems he is missing the confidence to do. Correlation in his current kicking for goal I reckon. Darling is trying but a pretty substandard team like ours isn’t conducive to old forwards turning the clock back. Paul Curtis copped a snipe to the head. Konstanty is playing for the first time and is like an excitable puppy dog out there. Smile here and there and also admonishments.

I’ve never said anything bad against Clarkson, but I absolutely will be personally upset at him if he drops Pink after this round. The man is glue to our back line. You can feel it out there. Only contest he lost was the first minute of the first quarter.

Powell is repeating last year. Big promises but just can’t influence the games as we’d hope just yet. Not the worse mind you. But he’s almost that extra small percentage we need to click before we’re on our way.

Wardlaw is approx 20% fitness increase from being arguably the most influential player in the league. His quirky kicks with energy in the tank are mint. When gassed though it’s like flipping pancakes unfortunately. Turnover.

Everyday I count my blessings we didn’t trade Xerri to the Saints. All things being considered, this game was his best synergy with the midfielders in clearance situations.

Riley Hardeman is like a good diet. Just relieves stress. For years I’ve watched ground ball situations or outnumbered contested situations in the back line with an acknowledged understanding we’d most likely concede something. This guy though. Relieves my stress a lot. Way more than my therapist.

Good game tonight. When the siren sounded I was pissed off like we were going to make the 8 or something. When I came to, I got pissed off instead about the no first pick thing. But then I realized whatever happens, we weren’t going to make the 8 this year anyway, so it’s all sunken cost at the end. Good luck to the Tigers.

Konstanty... brother, when you see Stephens running forward for a handball receive, give it. Darling/Zurhaar was on his own.
He gives that handball, Stephens wouldn't need to pass it, he would have scored himself. Even a point is enough.

Shat himself.

Didn’t want to have to make a call.

Wish the same applied to that pathetic in danger free.

Seen plenty of blokes toe poke the ball in traffic like that all year and not get pinged.

Bailey squealing like a bitch and they caved.

Not sure any call can beat the non deliberate call on Hipwood. I am still trying to figure out in what world is that not deliberate. Wasn’t even close to 50-50. It was 1,000,000:1 and we hit the jackpot with it being that 1 time.

Maybe Laura will come out and tell us the cheating campaigner was confused.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the guy in the earpiece made that call. It was a whole new level of howler, mega howler!
Pretty sure there was a blatant missed 50 to Corr in the first when the ball was given to McDonald instead.

Would have put Corr 15 out.

Clarko dominated Fagan.

We completely dismantled their ball movement and forced often rushed entries which our defenders defended very well.

Our forward line with 3 talks didn’t function until we subbed one.

Powell has to be the softest player in the comp. McKercher a close second.

Loved angry Clarko in the box. I feel we aren’t that far off now.
Powell for me is a bust at his current output. Not damaging enough. Passive.

Thought he would come of age after Melbourne game. Another false dawn.

Powell and Jy got coaches votes last week. Both quieter this week.

Parker was average last week, stepped up this week.

A game where the midfield clicks together would get us to that win.

An off season getting us some explosive players will get us a run.

I've really stopped paying a lot of attention to the coaches votes tbh. Not because of Powell/Jy, but just seeing the way coaches across the league approach them. McRae for example gives Naicos votes no matter how poorly he plays. It's all a bit of a furphy.

The first half was full of shit decisions against us.

The Corr non 50. The block call against Pink for correctly contesting, the laughable missed deliberate against Hipwood and Xerri being excluded from a ruck contest well before the ball is thrown in even though he nominated.

4 of the worst decisions you will ever see and surprise surprise we are on the wrong end of all of them.
