Is it time to resurrect the Priddis thread? :p

By my memory, the key theme was that we couldn't win anything that matters with Priddis as a key piece of our midfield. That's proven true. We wasted half a decade :p
More than half a decade unfortunately
Would not have got a game in the hawks premiership teams. Even worse would not get a game for them now.

BEST
Hawthorn:
Mitchell, O'Brien, Rioli, Burgoyne, McEvoy, Breust, Gibson
West Coast: Shuey, Priddis, Darling, Barrass, Gaff
Priddis. Lol. Jesus Christ.

I think my mum will be more disappointed on the flight home than the players![/QUOTE]

royboys4eva that a big part of our Clubs problem the players don't seem to get "pissed off" or angry enough after a loss and the banter around the Clubhouse next week will be hipster and jovial as the team clowns, Masten, Wellingham and Schofield crack jokes all week to lighten the load.

We lack genuine leadership and the once ingrained culture at our Club of unbridled desire to win at all costs is now sadly a hallmark of Eagles of a bygone era.

What Hurn as captain should do is lay it down on the line and ban the team song being sung again after a win until its an "away win" against a quality side , we celebrate to many flat track , down hill victories.

What if they don't blood those kids Jootube ?

I was in the 3 tier stand just to the left of centre wing today.

What was noticeable to me:

McEvoy out worked and outbodied Vardy. The non-selection of Giles was not good.

At the risk of channelling Eagle87 Priddis was diabolical. So slow, fumbly and easy to close down.

Kennedy dropped his bundle, and refused to work hard, was very static in the forward line, especially if I was to compare him to Roughead who worked his ring off running from full forward to centre wing and back with regularity.
LeCras likewise.

Darling? Master of the cheapy, but at least had a crack.

Nelson was good, Shuey worked hard.

It was noticeable from above how well Hawthorn could spread from half back. Cripps, LeCras and Hill weren't working hard enough to shut that down.

And I was impressed with Barrass. Liked him a lot

Well said mate. The passion isn't there. You could see it as soon as the HT siren went. the Hawks players ran off and were patting each other and the Eagles just walked off with no enthusiasm.

As for Masten - i watched him closely today and he just runs around doing nothing. When he does get the ball he heads back into traffic. You guys need a massive injection of speed. Sadly Jetta isn't the answer because he cares less than the players who played today.

The big positive for you eagles fans is Nelson showed plenty and had a red hot go and Barrass will be very good. Sheed was very disappointing.

On Shuey's goal from 50
He and others need to do this more. It happens so much we have a player running and about to cross the 50 line with only eyes for JK, which doesn't eventuate, they get closed out start the backwards handball triangle work under pressure.

Was so refreshing for him to realise the spot up leads weren't on and just slot it from the 50, the full 6m face of the goals available, not that difficult a shot for AFL players. Hit it nicely too.

^ Good summary of most of our thoughts

We can replace Priddis (Mut/Sheed/Parto)
We can select a second ruck

However,
We cant get big Willie to replace all 3 of LeCras, Hill and Cripps.

I'm not sure you needed a second ruck. Giles just seemed like for like. Hawks second ruck was Tim O'Brien so not really a monster.

I didn't mind Redden too much. I'd keep him and boot Priddis.

What is wrong with Partington that he can't get a game?
And Ajok? His pace would be good in a FP?

If it's any consolation Puma, my 16 yo son said exactly the same thing about Rondo and Wade. The other silver lining I can give you, is that there is a bottom of the pit experience you have as an employer, like I had a few years ago, and suddenly everything is crystalised in your mind. You then start calling that pig a pig and get it out of your sty. That's the way it needs to be as a head coach as well. There becomes a point where the club wants results and the decisions are made to reflect that. ;) Or they should be.

Your son is a trues bulls fan (poor kid) and could see that GarPax were putting lipstick on said pig with Rondo and Wade.

I hope you're right about the bottom of the pit situation but something tells me we still have plenty of lipstick to apply.

Will the Eagles finally have such an Epiphany?

Sorry for intrusions but nelson and especially barrass look like very good players. Barass hss multiple AA'S written all over him

Both are cemented in the team for the rest of the year, not bad considering they both weren't high draft picks. Wish half the team had their level of application.

Right time to vent
I am a one eyed, passionate West Coast supporter, but I genuinely don't enjoy watching us play any more.
Hurts a crap captain
LeCras is as soft as devondale butter and never turns up away when we need him too.
Kennedy missed three set shots that were all getable and set the loss up with that point to open proceedings
Masten was ****ing useless in the 1st half when the game was on the line, finished off wish a few useless possessions, he is the epitome of the mediocrity that is our team.
Shuey has ****ing turrets or something and just crumbles under pressure
Jetta didn't play tonight but is the laziest campaigner I know who gets probably $400,000 a year
Darlings set shot tonight FFS
Decision making in general, the players must be either poorly coached or in need of a shrink or both
Priddis is slow, struggles to kick past 40m and is apparently our star mid
I have never seen Simpson given a player a roast over a **** up, why not!!!
Wellingham decided he didn't want to play tonight, lazy campaigner!!!
I get so frustrated with our lack of aggression and mongrel out there, we don't have it and will not win a flag with this group.

Why do our Mids think jumping on the ball is productive. You are on the ground will either get tackled or feed it to a player under pressure because there is an extra player at the contest because your on the bloody ground like a wombat.

Can't they see teams are trying to keep the ball alive and keep their feet like Adelaide GWS etc

Does anyone reckon Mitchell will give some players a bake over that effort? Like he is supposedly prone to do and the team probably needs?

The team is lacking mongrel. Far too nice.

I'm not saying they to be knuckle dragging thugs, but show a bit of C U Next Tuesday please!

We had it for the last 2/3 of 2015 and the last three games of 2016. We urgently need to get back the hunger and passion.

You would like to think so but since he has been here all we have heard is that Mitchell has to fit in with our plan which is clearly not that good.
Maybe they should let Mitch set the plan??
Bottom line is that many of the players are not good enough.

The free kick was dubious and his intent was exactly what we needed. The commentators talk of "delicate tackles" was just another joke of a call in what was overall a pathetic cheerleading effort for 4 quarters.
It wasn't dubious, Masten collected him over the shoulder which is always high contact. Sure, the intent might have been good, but it was clumsy, and was just after he missed a regulation handball a metre away by handpassing behind the running player. We had a bit of momentum and he killed it, then gave away an easy goal. Standard stuff really.

And if they did that and one of them crossed the line a little then everyone on here gets their knickers in a knot and bags them.
I get what you are saying though, chasing, tackling, diving on the ball with hunger to get their first etc etc, none of this seems in any players DNA.

i like the fact that he has the balls to put that shark in the top left corner Seadog. ;)

You see, CM is going through some tough times supporting his team, but supporting them he still is. :thumbsu: I think a few other eagles supporters need to go through this character building exercise. :drunk::p
We had to go through a similar exercise last year swannies didn't we ;)

Nah, gws, wasn't there some story about Mitchell giving Masten (yes, most people's favourite player) an earful about being run down by Petrie in the pre-season? If so, hope that sort of story is true.
I know you listen to players on the field at the WAFL greatwhiteshark and you learn a lot of stuff from listening. At one point in the West Perth v Swans game on Saturday and Lynch (who is pretty much useless) turned around and gave Aaron Black (I think) a spray for not laying a block for him. I liked it and like i have told a few other posters here, I 'ken hate West Perth. :)
