Yes. And here you are. Who’s a good boy? You. Yes you’re a good boy

How’s your coach selection process coming along?
I suggest you look up the meaning of sarcasm, and try attention whoring on the main board, you might get a better response there with such limp dicked bait.

And yet here you are, posting in a thread about how Carlton don’t have a head coach trying to argue about the semantics of what constitutes irony

So are we to conclude that you’re attracted to limp dicks?

Now Leppitsch has ruled himself out of a job he was no real chance for.
Looks like Carlton will have to dig up Jock McHale to have a coach next year.

Shovels ready Bluebaggers. Dig dig dig

Firstly the semantics of irony don't involve the definition of sarcasm, you may need to look both of those terms up it seems.

Secondly, what you're saying is your thread isn't even designed to make people melt, you just want someone to reply to you at all. That's pretty sad bro.

Irony comes from an Hellenic word meaning to dissemble, that is to feign ignorance in order to draw someone into self-defeating statements, perfected by Socrates (an absolute munt btw). An example of Socratic irony would be "socialism is the best system? so we should live under socialism? So you're going to live in China?"

Irony has evolved into a term to describe where the stated and actual situation either involve direct contradiction or at least involve tension (eg "Operation Iraqi Freedom"), and there's also "dramatic irony" which is the commonest meaning for irony these days, where a person (usually unwittingly) makes a statement that contrasts with reality ("Geez I can't wait to get home to my wife and kids" [they are dead]" or "you can trust me, I'm a politician").

Sarcasm also involves rhetorical dissembling (usually but not always feigned agreement with something) to depict something negatively. Sarcasm is related to the original meaning of irony, but less so to "dramatic irony".

Sadly for you Sav's original post involves sarcasm, as he feigns ignorance that Carlton lacks a coach in order to invite Carlton posters into the thread: "get in here and tell us something about your coach".

Thanks for coming to my TED talk, except for those flogs who have no senior coach.

Except his comment stating it was sarcasm was in direct response to me saying:

You made a thread to exclude Carlton flogs from posting, and then cry that none of us are posting in it.

I know you're desperate for attention but make up your mind sheila.

which doesn't mention the part about a coach at all.

Socrates was an annoying cosh-carrying anti-Democratic Spartan-sympathising shit husband who shirked his civic duty to Athens and was absolutely right to be sentenced to drink the hemlock at his second trial after his smart-arse so called 'defence'. In the modern era he'd be labelled a domestic terrorist after his former students overthrew the democratically elected Athenian government twice during his adult life.

Yeah I went there, come at me.

Holy shit. The things you can learn in bay 13.

Seriously? He didn't cry, he sarcastically invited your mob in. Still of you're determined to quibble your way out of something do it in another thread, floggo, this one is not for you.

Preaching to the converted, I'll come with you to force feed the **** hemlock (although I suspect your hostility derives mostly because he voted to rescind the licence of the Eleusis Bulldogs in the Attic League, remember those chariot stickers "Up Yours Oikley").

I saw a meme the other day that mentioned that even though only 60% of the jury voted him guilty 80% voted for the death penalty, at at least 20% of Athenian citizens were like "heh I know he's not guilty but **** him anyway!"
