We are all in the situation we're in because everyone underestimated how fast this virus spreads. The NBA went from games with no crowds to no games at all in like two hours. Australians went from panic buying toilet paper to panic buying all grocers within a week. Don't think it's unreasonable to presume the season will be cancelled at the rate we're going. Optimistic foresight not going great, atm.

We knew 3 weeks ago due to what was happening in Europe. Why didn't our government? They needed to go harder earlier.

I have a different outlook .....when they allow Bus's , Trains, and Trams to operate ....as long as people are allowed to swarm in Supermarkets, Cafe. and Restaurants ....Sport in empty stadiums is hardly the #1 issue

In fact, it's documented that in hard times, people need a release from the depressing environments .....in recessions, Ice-Cream sales increase, and the Royal Show has recorded its highest attendances ....all in the face of logic

I want to buy shares in pornhub and EB games.

I actually had a sneaky look at the share market to see if Uber Eats had shares for sale. Their profits will soar if enough people end up isolated

The only certainty about all this is that there will be a baby boom in 9 months time with everyone being stuck at home.

That generation of kids will be called Coronials.

I'd agree - in the scheme of things a lack of sports isn't a huge deal. It's annoying, especially when it's so engrained in your daily life. But every person who doesn't get corona now is a win, and footy players are still people too and not isolated from the rest of us. If they get it, that's good for all of us.

I'm of the opinion this issue of whether to play or not is quite simple.

Once you tell players that they'll take a big pay cut it becomes a foregone conclusion they will stick their hands up to play.

Half have rushed into the bank after signing their 3 yr deal and maxxed out the mortgages. Those on big money for awhile just keep topping up. Every extr 150K on a new contract is a trip to the bank. Captains usually the most heavily leveraged with their added payments.
Most being advised the same thing by the same people, via the club and AFLPA.
Most will get hurt financially of course, but they are in their 20's, feeling bulletproof and indestructible. So whynot play. Need to.
The AFLPA will become a big big part of this season.

Totally agree .... Money governs all decisions ...The Cricket cancels all matches only because those matches don't contribute to CA's coffers ....in fact the Sheffield Shield loses money .....but that call would be totally different if it were a Test or a 20/20 game

Still believe in tough times, you need to provide people with a mental release ......otherwise hell breaks out

Disagree, with everyone being sequestered & no access to frangers a lot of blokes will be playing the back nine.

Hey, it's for the country love!

There's a joke about the itsy bitsy spider, a drainpipe, and Mrs OA, but I'll leave that to your imagination.
