I reckon they'll make the call to suspend the season by early next week

I almost think that's more likely than games with no crowds (it will only take one player to test positive). I also suspect even when things get back to some form of normality that it won't be out of the realm of possibility that players miss games with the virus later this season.

My Golden State Warriors in the NBA announced they were going to play their next game against the Nets in an empty Chase Centre as San Fran banned "mass " gatherings

Less than 2 hours later the entire NBA season was suspended

The problem will be that if any player gets it the rest of the team will have to be put into isolation.

If the show goes on we will certainly need more than 30 trades to cover the 14 day isolation periods that players may occur.

Heard the Tiges are in lockdown.

Hypothetically, what if a player falls ill and tests positive on the morning of a game? Surely that game is called off since his club would then need to test all of their players and staff and put them all in lockdown as to not risk passing on the virus to each other and to the opposing team.

Now what if a player falls ill and tests positive right after a game? Two teams would then need to go into quarantine for 2 weeks. I can't see how the season isn't called off/indefinitely postponed soon after the first player tests positive. We'll be lucky to get 2 rounds in before the inevitable.

Just driving past a local ground and saw a live game on. Thought I would stop and get possibly my last live footy fix for a while. Camped on the fence at Bundoora footy ground With an egg and bacon sandwich watching Bundoora under 19s play Banyule 19s.

There has been a lot of talk in the media about this virus but very little about its potential and significant impact on SuperCoach.

If the season is shortened - which seems a very likely outcome - how might that affect SuperCoach strategy? Could we be better off adopting a MPM approach as less time to watch rookies rise in price?

interested in thoughts on what really ought to be front page news

Season will continue as planned, just with no crowds.

Until such time as a player catches it, which will happen, then they’ll be forced to shut down for a few weeks. Season won’t be shortened, they’ll just make up games on Mon/Tues/Wed.

Madness. Let’s trash the integrity of the competition just because all the AFL bigwigs see is dollar signs flashing in front of their eyes.
Integrity of the competition? Say what?

Latest news from the AFL.
Prepare yourselves for SC chaos after R2.
The biggest question might be "what is a round?". It could end up being like the BBL SC which would do my head in on an AFL scale.

Still think theyre dreaming if we get more than a few rounds into the season.
Idiots for even considering it.
One player tests positive and a whole squad of 45 cant play for two weeks which should really be 28 days. Then one of their family members gets it and they have to sit it out for another two weeks.
It just doesnt work. The dumb campaigners just dont get it do they :drunk:
