Just got home from the Post Match Function, man it must have been tough for the players to smile and sign stuff. Harvey was great, wandered through crowd - and special thx to de Boer who was a real champ.

But why did the MCG put us in the Olympic Atrium (aka escalator corridors) - I could see other rooms clearly not in use. Some even had Purple Balloons that I guess were for Pies fans to pop on entry.

I am not fussy but I could not hear what Harv's, Sandi and others were saying and felt like we had been snubbed by Melbourne.

Anyway - over it. Crud game, lets get better!

Word is the Pies (Mcguire) played a hand in us not getting a room and leaving us 2 stand in corridores.
Agree Chops they are professional athletes and sometimes you've got to suck it up and face your supporters.

That area was digraceful, freezing, couldnt hear with the echoe and the lineup to get a drink was a far q.The Pres tried to apologise and to make do with a bad situation but we seem to as a club get arse r*ped in every situation.Time for the club to start screaming blue murder and grab some balls and complain loudly and frequently.

Could it have been a case of area A costs X amount of $$$, area B costs Y amount of $$$$ and the club went with the cheapest option?

The club requested a larger area, but were told by the MCG none were available. Rick Hart apologised for it too.

Freo tend to do some really, really poor "mug supporter" functions.

Their corporate ones are ok, but they don't put enough effort, or just have twits organizing the "not important ones"

Which is pretty bad given how infrequent they happen. It's amazing how many clubs run functions for their fans every time they come over to WA, yet we run 1 a year in Melbourne, and zero everywhere else. Those sort of functions turn casual interstate supporters into members and keep people in touch that have moved elsewhere from WA.

Never a truer word has been posted on the subject of Freo's interstate functions. I've learned (even though I'm a member and have access) not to bother going to most of the interstate functions - they've really gotten much worse since about 2001.

I think the poor functions cost the club a lot of interstate support, and I really feel for the kids and parents who queue up to try to get the 1 chance a year to meet the Freo players and hear what they have to say.

From what I saw on the way past on Saturday arvo, Steve and his staff did at least try to put a good show on for everybody on Saturday. I was also really pleased to see Zac and a few of the younguns in there early on Saturday arvo, bright and happy and talking to everyone - hopefully the new breed are a bit more willing to spend some time with the fans than a few of our former players were.

Can only hope the club get better at that - it's not like you need more than a handful of players and an assistant coach or 2 to show up. Even a pre game function would be good - get Rick Hart mingling with the interstate fans.

They are a lot better at allocating tickets to away games than they used to be, now it's as easy as piss to get tickets in the Freo section to every away game - which given i'm going to the Crows game in a week and a bit it's a necessity.

My nephew drew this picture of me (note the backwards S - classic), and my wife got most to sign it which was quite funny.

She also said I could remove some with metho (off the glass on top of the drawing as it is framed)... meow!
