Remember Ben Johnson saying how he loved Riewoldt getting booed after grand final parade speeches. Johnson said this in the doco of the 2010 GF. Let’s not be hypocrites.
I don’t think booing a player before the game at a parade in anyway compares to what happened today when a player is being awarded the Anzac Day medal in honour our fallen soldiers.

Essendon supporters are a largely classless bunch of thugs.

This post may be strongly lacking in sobriety. Apologies to tomorrow self.

Too much being made of post-game booing. It ain't great, but it ain't that great a travesty. Any more focus on booers and booing invests them with an importance they don't deserve.

We were good in patches, early on we looked intimidating. We need to learn to make the magic last longer, especially through the midfield.

Daniher can be rather annoying, can't he?

Our fumbling with the ball, especially by hand, has lost me my voice. I'm told that more alcohol is a cure for this.

Go Pies.
It is a travesty when the better team won........simple.

If I was thinking some changes, Wills for Thomas and a big call with Wells for Sidey. For the record, love Sidey but his normal output and game has not been on show for much of this year yet.
Are you serious? Sidey won't be dropped

I thought the Stephenson call of play on was correct. I'll have to look at it again but it seemed as though Billy Idol and Stevo had locked arms so Stevo had to go one hand. Perhaps the umpire thought play on was the fairest call? BT was hyping it up because of the state of the game.
Crisp was caught but managed to get a handball away as he hit the deck. Can't be incorrect disposal so HTB. The we get into the area of trigger happy umps who call it or those umps that apply the correct interpretation.
The only commentator with half a brain was Lethal. BT and Bruce were comical with their reaction to players stopping. Lethal said something like "You play to the whistle....."

It’s a win.

Now a few hours later, I’ll offer a slightly different take.

We were ok, and not in “real” danger of losing.

But!

We just needed to nail opportunities and convert set shots.
Then we would have iced the game.

We let them in, but we also closed out their opportunities with defensive pressure.

A lot to learn, but some good stuff as well.

No need to panic.

Firstly, stated am a Sidey supporter (he’s a Star) and can’t see him dropped but I think his output or maybe more his effectiveness this year so far has been down.

Maybe to put it in perspective, stared finals series last year but went missing in the GF.

Plus Sidey has plenty of Browny points in the bank to keep his place.

while i agree that booers are a bit like 2 year olds.... always seeking attention... however there's nothing better if you're a parent as looking straight in the eyes of a 2 year old who is making a lot of annoying noise and saying with conviction "no"...

What do you expect from supporters of a club that still deny that they're drug cheats.

I admire Cal Brown’s competitive spirit but he just doesn’t handle big game pressure. The number of important, very gettable shots at goal he misses is horrific. He’s another Collingwood hard worker with no hurt-factor.

Brown and Greenwood should make way for Elliott and Wells/Sier next week.

Completely disagree. Was far more damaging than plenty of other players today and when the ball needed to be won he and Pendlebury inparticular stood up.

Clear goal to me, not sure why there’d even be a discussion?

We need to think about getting Moore sitting on Grundy’s shoulders on the line, with Cox on the mark. Or something similar to a rugby lineout set-up.
Not allowed to have a “sitting on shoulders” scenario to protect the goal square.
Be a free to the opposition if it was tried.

Same as shaking the posts.

I'd love to see a replacement for Sidey (eg Wills) even imagine kicking that goal that Rusty kicked. Get a grip, his stats are down because he's playing a different position to what he has for the past 4-5 years. He's a class footballer.

Despite doing eveything we could after qtr time to lose the game, we won.
Relieved to get the 4 points.
Our so called super midfield needs to get it's sh*t together.
Every week one or two of them play well but they have not gelled as a group.

This win won't be going straight to the pool room.

Mainly we had a buffer. Only the last few minutes did they get within that goal.

We just missed through the game to nail opportunity.

Otherwise we at least controlled the scoreboard enough to keep them at bay.
